Your Role
We are looking for personal assistants for users with autism and challenging behavior. This advertisement is for on-call staff with a chance for summer jobs. The mission is to provide the best possible assistance so that the user can have a good quality of life and participation in society. The work as a personal assistant involves providing support in all situations of life. This can include support in the home and also out in the community.
Common tasks include:
- Helping users with limited vocabulary to communicate with the support of speech and visual aids (AAC).
- Support with meals.
- Assistance with personal hygiene, showering, and toilet needs.
- Accompanying users to daily activities, school, or short-term housing.
Your Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone who is:
- Calm and secure.
- Attentive and empathetic.
- Patient and punctual.
- Self-sufficient (basic assistance).
- Good at collaboration (double assistance occurs, but also collaboration with relatives sharing housing).
We are looking for someone who has:
- Turned 18 years old.
- Experience working within LSS and/or personal assistance.
- Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Assistant nurse training or other education in healthcare and social care.
- Knowledge of low-arousal approaches in theory and practice.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or epilepsy.
- Experience with challenging behavior.
- Experience with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
