In the Culture and Leisure Administration, we are responsible for libraries, youth centers, the Youth House UNIK, Kalmar Culture School, the Culture House Strömmen, Kalmar Theater, and Kalmar Sports Center, as well as several other sports facilities. In our work, we strive to provide residents, cultural actors, and associations with the best conditions to give and experience a joyful, spontaneous, and health-promoting leisure.

The Culture School has just moved into Kalmar's new Culture House Strömmen. Here we have the majority of our activities, reaching about 1500 children every week. We teach subjects such as music, theater, dance, drill, visual arts, circus arts, crafts, and film.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The largest part of the position involves teaching clarinet and saxophone to children and young people aged 8-25. Teaching takes place both individually and in groups at the Culture House Strömmen in central Kalmar and in the municipality's outskirts.

The position also includes conducting the Culture School's wind orchestras and smaller wind ensembles. We work with an orchestra ladder in three steps where some students then continue to the school's symphony orchestra - where you serve as section leader and mentor.

Regional collaborations such as the regional youth wind orchestra and/or regional youth big band are also part of the position.

You will be an important part of the Culture School's broad and outward-looking activities, participating in concerts and holiday activities. Within the framework of our assignment, there are also good opportunities to create and run your own projects.

The Culture School in Kalmar applies a vacation service.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is creative, flexible, and engaged, with a pedagogical degree from a music college or equivalent education focused on clarinet/saxophone and conducting.

You have experience teaching children and young people of various ages and preferably also in digital teaching. You find it easy to inspire, motivate, and meet students with different needs and learning styles. We would like you to be comfortable teaching various types of repertoire and genres.

It is an advantage if you can also teach piano, music theory, or another instrument. We work in subject working groups, so high demands are placed on your ability to collaborate while also having the ability to work independently, attentively, and flexibly. We place great importance on personal suitability.

A driving license (B) is desirable at the start of the position.

You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

To work with us, you need to present a valid criminal record extract for work in schools or preschools, which you can order via the Police's website.
