Economist at the University of Borås

The University of Borås offers more than just a job – here you can influence and contribute to development. We want you to feel good both at work and outside of it. Therefore, we offer flexible working hours, a generous vacation agreement, and good conditions for parental leave. There are also opportunities for professional development through international exchanges with other institutions and organizations. With our central location, you have easy access to the city's offerings and good commuting options.

Your Responsibilities

As an economist with us, you will be an important part of an experienced team where you, together with two other economists, support the operations at the Academy of Textiles, Technology, and Economics. In this role, you will have a strong focus on project accounting. You will be a natural support for project managers – from developing project calculations and budgets to working with forecasts, follow-ups, and reporting on projects to various funders. You will often be in contact with different funders and project partners, and the international research and educational environment at the academy means that you will use both Swedish and English in speech and writing on a daily basis.

In addition to project accounting, you will also work with budgets, forecasts, and follow-ups for the organization as a whole, as well as year-end tasks and reporting in our financial system. If needed, you can also support other units at the university. In your role, you will be an important partner for managers, project leaders, other economists, and controllers – a person who sees the big picture and contributes to common working methods throughout the university.

With us, you will have the opportunity to influence and develop our working methods. You will actively participate in the department's development work and may, if needed, be involved in various development projects. We continuously work to digitize and streamline our processes and always strive for high quality in everything we do.

This is a role for you who enjoys working broadly, who likes to create good conditions in an environment where research and education are at the center. You will be organizationally placed in the Department of Economics and be part of the economics group. We work in Agresso as our financial system and Proceedo for invoice management.

Your Qualifications

You need to have at least a bachelor's degree in economics or in another area that the employer deems relevant for the position, such as management or IT economics. You have experience working with budgets, forecasts, and follow-ups or experience as an accounting economist. Additionally, you have good knowledge of Excel at an advanced level and good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. This means, among other things, that you have a good ability to understand new tasks, take initiative, seek and absorb necessary information, and work independently. You are structured, can meet deadlines, and prioritize between tasks. You also have good collaboration skills and a consultative working approach.

Meritorious:

  • Experience of being a close support to management or project leaders in qualified financial matters.
  • Experience working with financial reporting in research projects within the university/higher education sector or from research institutes.
  • Experience working in the financial system Agresso.

Your Employment

Permanent full-time employment. A six-month probationary period may apply.
Start date: By agreement.
Location: Borås.
Diary number: PA2025/186
