Social Counselor for the School Social Team in Halmstad

Do you want to help create security, structure, and hope for the future for children and families in Halmstad? As a social counselor in our new school social team, you will play a central role in the municipality's preventive work – where you, together with schools, families, and colleagues, build interventions that make a real difference in children's everyday lives.

Here, you will support both students and guardians towards a more sustainable and functional school experience.

Your Responsibilities

As a social counselor, you will coordinate interventions around the student in close collaboration with schools, families, external actors, and the internal team. You will also be responsible for the intervention's parenting support – which includes everything from structured support conversations to collaboration with the school and conducting parenting education. Documentation of the interventions is included.

You will be part of the municipality's preventive unit and primarily work in the school social team. If needed, you will also contribute to other parts of the unit's parenting support through outreach work, advice and support conversations, educational initiatives, and other administrative tasks as required.

Examples of Responsibilities:

• Work on relationship-building with families, teachers, and other collaboration partners.
• Maintain continuous dialogue with guardians and provide support in collaboration with school staff.
• Assist guardians in creating structure in daily life, such as weekly schedules, planning schoolwork, and leisure activities.
• Build sustainable networks both privately and in the community.
• Initiate, coordinate, and invite to collaboration meetings and SIP (Coordinated Individual Plans).

Working hours are primarily during the day, but evening and weekend work may occur.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another relevant behavioral science degree as assessed by the employer. You have experience working with children and families, preferably related to school absenteeism, and are accustomed to working in interdisciplinary teams.

You also have:

• Good knowledge of social services and the school's mission and collaboration between them.
• Experience in motivational work, network work, and parenting support or previous work as a social counselor.
• The ability to create trusting relationships and communicate clearly.
• Structure, initiative, and good collaboration skills.
• A valid driver's license (B).
