Job Description

We are looking for a Data Engineer with a focus on data catalog who wants to take a key role in the development of metadata and governance capabilities in a modern data and cloud platform. In this role, you will be responsible for onboarding metadata from various source systems to a central data catalog, creating and maintaining data lineage, and supporting data quality efforts. You will also drive the automation of processes related to metadata and catalog management.

You will work closely with data engineers, DevOps, data stewards, architects, and the business in a collaborative environment. Your tasks will include connecting databases, reporting tools, pipelines, and other technical components to the data catalog, ensuring that tables, columns, reports, and APIs are accurately described. You will build and improve data lineage from source systems to consumption, support the implementation of data quality rules, and expose results in the catalog. The role also involves writing scripts and tools for automation and integrating these into CI/CD workflows, as well as collaborating with data stewards to link technical objects to business concepts.

Qualifications:

• Several years of experience as a Data Engineer, BI developer, or similar
• Strong knowledge of SQL, preferably also Python or another scripting language
• Experience with ETL/ELT, data pipelines, and DevOps work (Git, CI/CD)
• Interest in metadata, structure, and traceability
• Fluent communication in Swedish and English

Preferred:

• Experience with data catalogs, preferably Alation, otherwise e.g. Collibra, Purview, AB Initio
• Experience with data quality frameworks and modern data/cloud platforms
• Previous work in a regulated environment, preferably banking/finance and insurance
