With over 200 employees and 4,500 students, the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) is a strong and dynamic research and educational environment. The field of computer and systems sciences spans technology, humanities, social sciences, and behavioral sciences, with great relevance for how we should live today and in the future. Our research focuses on how IT should be designed to benefit people, organizations, and entire societies.

DSV currently constitutes Stockholm University's campus in Kista but will move to Frescati in a couple of years.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a UX/Frontend designer for the department's IT unit. As a UX/Frontend designer, you will work on developing and improving digital services with a focus on usability, accessibility, and visually appealing interfaces. You will play a key role in creating solutions that meet both user needs and organizational goals.

Your tasks will include conducting user research, creating wireframes and interactive prototypes, and designing interfaces for web-based applications. You will work closely with developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure a high-quality user experience throughout the development process.

We are looking for someone with a good understanding of both design principles and frontend technology, who wants to contribute to creating digital solutions that make a difference for students, researchers, and staff at the department.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Relevant higher education in interaction design and UX design.
• Experience from universities and colleges.
• Knowledge of user-centered design, user testing, and accessibility.
• Good knowledge of design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar.
• Experience in frontend development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Ability to create wireframes, user flows, and prototypes based on requirements and insights from users.
• Ability to communicate design ideas clearly.
• Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.

Meritorious:

• Experience with responsive design and working with design systems.
• Experience with agile development methods.
• Experience from the public sector or education sector.
• Knowledge of integration between design and frameworks such as React or Vue.

About the Employment

The employment is permanent full-time with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
