Summer Job as a Social Work Intern in Stockholm

Who are we?

The Financial Assistance Unit is divided into two units. The Investigation Group is organized under the adult area, and the Reception Group is organized within the Pilot Area First Line. Södermalm's SDF systematically works to create a cohesive social service focused on results for citizens.

The Reception Group is the first instance for citizens seeking financial assistance. The Investigation Group is responsible for deeper investigations and assessments of financial assistance when cases require more extensive follow-up and long-term support. Each group is led by a unit manager and group leader responsible for the work environment, staff, and distribution of daily tasks.

You collaborate both internally within the unit and administration, as well as externally with relevant actors. The work is based on the dual mission of social services: to support individuals towards self-sufficiency while assessing the right to assistance.

Job Description

As a substitute during the summer (June - August), your main focus will be to process applications for financial assistance. You will receive documents, conduct investigations, and assess the right to assistance. An important part of the job is to follow up on clients' planning towards self-sufficiency. As a social worker, you work closely with residents in need of support, focusing on self-sufficiency and social change work. You provide clear information to citizens applying for financial assistance, investigate the right to assistance, assess needs, and make decisions according to applicable legislation. Cases are handled promptly with a focus on quality and legal certainty.

Qualifications

You are a newly graduated social worker or a social work student and have knowledge of the various areas of responsibility of social services and central partners such as the Employment Agency, Jobbtorg Stockholm, the Social Insurance Agency, and Region Stockholm.

Experience in financial assistance is an advantage.

You have experience from previous work where you have come into contact with people, for example, in healthcare, customer service, or other service professions.

You are clear, communicative, and structured with a high degree of personal maturity and self-awareness.

You are attentive and can accommodate anxiety and provide support even in complex contexts. We will place great importance on personal suitability.
