Job Advertisement: Social Services Worker
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
The Hässelby-Vällingby district administration is located in western Stockholm, close to scenic areas and good transportation links. We are about 1700 proud and engaged employees who provide high-quality service to the residents of the district every day. Our work environment is characterized by collaboration, courage, and participation. Our strength lies in the diversity among residents, which is also reflected in our staff. Together, we make a difference!
Welcome to us
The new social services act gives us a clearer and more powerful mission: to be closer, more accessible, and more precise in our support to our residents.
In Hässelby-Vällingby, we take this seriously and are building a social service that meets young people and families early, with a holistic perspective and interventions based on their real needs.
“With the new law, we have a greater opportunity to be there before problems grow – to see, listen, and act in time.”
We are looking for you who want to be part of this work and who, with commitment, flexibility, and professional security, want to contribute to a social service that truly makes a difference when it is needed the most.
Within our first line, we have the units Family Law, Reception for Children and Youth (including collaborative projects with preschools), Prevention 1 (field assistants, school social workers, and parent advisors), and Prevention 2 (SIG Adult and family support, youth reception, and Vistets meeting point for adults).
We offer
We offer you a unique opportunity to contribute to and develop the social service in Hässelby-Vällingby through a new type of position! For a long time, social services have become increasingly specialized, but through these positions, we want to test a new setup where you will work across the entire First Line area and contribute to our concrete transformation work.
In the city of Stockholm, we are thousands of colleagues – with the people of Stockholm in mind. It is a tremendous teamwork where we are challenged and develop every day. For us, it is important to be a secure employer with a good work environment that promotes health and safety. Wellness, development, and clear expectations are some important parameters for you to thrive in the workplace. Please read more about our benefits here.
Your role
In this role, you will act as a reinforcement in the area's various units, where we are intensively working to try new working methods, and you will be an important part of this. It may involve offering services without needs assessment (IUB) or authority exercise, depending on needs and your competence. The role is broad, changeable, and developmental – and suits you who are flexible and want to work closely with the operations and make a difference where the need is greatest.
You will move between our various operations in the area based on current needs and thus be part of different teams for both shorter and longer periods. You will have the opportunity to work in a changing environment where you continuously meet new working methods, target groups, and professions.
The assignment means that you quickly familiarize yourself with new contexts, adapt your support according to the conditions of the operations, and function as a generalist who can hold the whole together. You need to enjoy variation, movement, and being the one who sees what is needed here and now. In more complex situations, you are confident in guiding to the right support and ensuring that individuals receive help at the right level.
Both internal and external collaboration is of great importance, and you are expected to contribute to creating sustainable structures to ensure early and coordinated interventions for those we are here for. The new law emphasizes knowledge-based work, and therefore we want to work systematically with planning, implementation, follow-up, and analysis - which will be part of your tasks.
Your skills and experience
We are looking for you who have:
- a degree in social work.
- experience in authority exercise within social services, primarily with children and youth.
- experience in collaboration with, for example, schools, health care, or other actors.
- good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing.
We consider it an advantage if you have:
- experience from several parts of first-line social services.
- training in Signs of Safety, MI, or other methods/models related to the field of social services.
- experience in mobile, consultative, or generalist roles.
Personal qualities
We place great emphasis on personal suitability, and you need to have good strategic ability – to be able to see the whole, understand contexts, and make thoughtful decisions that strengthen the work in the first line. You build relationships and trust in a professional manner in various operations.

In this recruitment, you will answer a number of questions where you can describe your competence in the area instead of sending a personal letter. In the assessment of your application, we will base it on your CV and your answers to the selection questions.
Recruitment will begin after the advertisement period has ended, and provided that the necessary decisions are made. The city of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at considering each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
