Support Assistant for Sign Language Residence
Do you want meaningful work that makes a difference in people's lives? Welcome to the municipality that is far from average!
The Department of Health and Care is responsible for providing care, support, and assistance to the elderly and people with disabilities, as well as supporting their relatives. Our goal is to provide good conditions for an independent, stimulating, and safe living situation - around the clock. We are 2,500 employees who provide support and care to citizens in need in our various roles.
The Position and Responsibilities
We are looking for a support assistant for the sign language residence Albyvägen 13 within Housing with Special Services.
As a support assistant, you provide individually tailored support to individuals with various disabilities, such as intellectual disabilities, neuropsychiatric diagnoses, or hearing impairment/deafness. The work involves meeting people with different support needs in daily life – everything from practical tasks to communication and social interaction. You work with a low-arousal approach, structured routines, and communication support to create safety, predictability, and participation for each individual.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Providing individual support based on each resident's needs
- Assisting with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and personal care
- Supporting individuals in leisure activities and social contexts
- Documenting according to current routines in the operational system LifeCare
- Participating in planning, follow-up, and implementation of interventions.
The work can sometimes be physically demanding, for example during transfers, but you will receive support from aids and knowledge of ergonomics. To communicate and build relationships with residents, it is essential that you are proficient in sign language.
The residence is in an active development phase focusing on participation, self-determination, and quality of life. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and nights with sleeping on-call duty. Here you will have the opportunity to contribute to quality support work where sign language, communication, and teamwork are central parts.
We Offer You
At Albyvägen 13, you will be part of a sign language residence within Housing with Special Services. Here, support assistants and coordinators work closely together, where sign language and communication are an integral part of everyday life. We are in a development phase focusing on participation, self-determination, and increased quality of life for residents, where you will play an important role in the work ahead.
As an employee with us, you will receive secure employment with good conditions and the opportunity to develop in your professional role. We offer orientation, skills development, and support from experienced colleagues. With us, you will grow in an environment where your commitment makes a difference – both for the residents and for the entire operation. In Botkyrka municipality, we believe in developing both employees and the workplace together, and we hope you want to be part of that work.
Who You Are
You have a high school education in the Child and Leisure Program, Health and Care Program, or other equivalent qualifications through work or experience. Since the operation is sign language-based, it is a requirement that you are proficient in sign language.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Experience with clarifying pedagogy.
- Experience with motivational interviewing.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual, mental, or neuropsychiatric disabilities.
- Experience working according to the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL), especially with medication management and dressings.
- A valid driver's license (B).
As a support assistant in our sign language residence, you need to be collaborative, as you are part of a team where cooperation, responsiveness, and shared responsibility are crucial to creating safety and continuity for those living with us. You are stable and have the ability to remain calm even in pressured or unpredictable situations, which is particularly important in an operation that runs around the clock and requires a low-arousal approach. You are goal-oriented and have a structured working method – you follow up on interventions, document according to routines, and ensure that tasks are carried out in a quality manner. Since communication is a central part of the assignment, especially in a sign language context, you are confident and communicative. You adapt your way of expressing yourself to the individual's needs, are clear in your feedback, and treat everyone with respect.
Welcome with your application!
