Workplace Description
The research group is driven by the desire to understand the development of multicellularity – in the form of animals or tumors – and how it diversifies on Earth and in the human body.
We work transdisciplinarily across the boundaries of developmental and tumor biology. The group is located at BMC in Lund and is part of the strategic infrastructures Lund Stem Cell Center (SCC) and Lund University Cancer Center (LUCC). We conduct research of the highest quality while placing great emphasis on diversity and a stimulating environment in the lab. Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility
As a laboratory engineer, you will perform laboratory work and be an organizing and unifying force in the lab. You will be involved in projects, act as a link between the research group leader and practical aspects at all levels, and participate in scientific activities such as seminars and meetings.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- MSc in biomedical sciences or equivalent.
- Experience in practical work with biomedical analytical methods such as PCR, qPCR, immunoprecipitation, DNA extraction, gene manipulation (overexpression/knockout), work with viral vectors, western blot, immunohistochemistry and protein staining, cryosectioning, ELISA, primary cell culture, microfluidics, flow cytometry/FACS with expertise in various instruments.
- Experience in producing, sorting, and tracking cells with extranuclear content during endocycle and reduction.
- Experience working with fruit fly intestines and stem cells, experimentally and molecularly.
- Experience working with hypoxic cabinets and chambers.
- Experience in handling and experimental expertise in animal models – including the chicken model – through approved training and FELASA certification.
- Ability to organize your work.
- Experience in purchasing and finance.
- Experience and ability to maintain routines in a lab.
- Experience in oral and written communication and fluency in English.
As a person, you should be prepared to work within a team with a common goal while also conducting independent work.
Desirable for the Position
- Employment as a lab manager in another lab.
- Experience working abroad.
Other
The position is a full-time temporary position for 12 months. Desired start date is February 1, 2025, or by agreement.
