The Investigation Section in the Västerbotten police area is organized into serious crimes, surveillance, crimes in close relationships, fraud, and investigation on call. The investigation on call consists of station commanders and on-call investigation leaders. The Investigation Section is responsible for qualified surveillance work and certain handling of covert coercive measures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Your main task will be to work in our detention facility by receiving and handling individuals who are deprived of their liberty and being their closest contact during their time in the detention facility. Many are deprived of their liberty to investigate crimes, but it can also involve shorter detentions due to, for example, intoxication. You will also work with simpler investigative measures in the detention facility as well as other common administrative tasks such as transcribing interrogations and other administrative tasks related to evidence handling.
In addition to the above tasks, you may also perform other tasks within internal and external service as needed, such as working at the reception, evidence handling, and taking reports. Work at other locations within the county may occur.
The pace of work varies based on the tasks, and the work can be physically demanding, which requires that you are in good health.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- High school diploma or equivalent education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in working with and meeting people in vulnerable and/or problematic situations as assessed by the employer.
- Driver's license (for manual transmission vehicle).
- Good computer skills.
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written.
- Good understanding of the English language and the ability to express yourself well in English.
It is advantageous for the position if you also have:
- Relevant work experience of working with detained individuals such as correctional services, detention officer, HVB/SIS homes, security guard, or other experience that the employer assesses as relevant.
- Basic understanding of legal terms acquired through education or work experience.
- Other language skills besides Swedish or English that the employer assesses as relevant where you can use the language in your professional practice.
Personal Attributes
As a person, you are self-assured and act with maturity and integrity. In stressful situations, you can act calmly, controlled, and professionally. You apply a high level of security awareness, which means you are reliable in situations where physical violence may arise. As the pace of work fluctuates and tasks may vary, you need to have a flexible approach. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills and relate to others in a responsive and smooth manner.
We will place great emphasis on personal attributes.
