Today's Electricity Prices: A Mix of Free and Expensive Hours
Today, January 23, 2025, electricity prices offer an interesting mix of costs. During the night, between 03:00 and 03:59, it is completely free to use electricity in Sweden. This means you can shower, bathe, charge your car, or play games without having to pay a single cent during this hour. A perfect time to take advantage of for the energy-conscious!
From Free to High Costs
Starting at 06:00, prices begin to rise significantly, peaking between 08:00 and 08:59 with a price of 1 krona and 77 öre per kWh. During this most expensive hour, it would cost a total of 106 kronor to charge your electric car if you needed 60 kWh. A bath would cost 10 kronor and 60 öre, while a dishwasher load would amount to 2 kronor and 65 öre.
Prices Throughout the Day
After the morning peak, electricity prices drop slightly but remain relatively high during the late morning and early afternoon. Between 10:00 and 12:59, prices range from 1 krona and 28 öre to 1 krona and 6 öre per kWh. During these hours, it is wise to avoid energy-intensive activities if possible.
Evening Price Drop
As evening approaches, especially after 20:00, prices drop significantly, reaching a minimum of 34 öre per kWh between 21:00 and 21:59. This is an excellent opportunity to run the dishwasher or charge your electric car at a lower cost.
Tomorrow's Electricity Prices: A Calmer Day
Tomorrow, January 24, 2025, electricity prices are expected to be significantly lower and more stable compared to today. Prices start at 25 öre per kWh at midnight and remain relatively low throughout the day. The highest price is expected between 08:00 and 08:59 at 58 öre per kWh, which is considerably lower than today's peak.
Optimal Times for Energy Use
Between 22:00 and 23:59 tomorrow evening, prices drop further to under 8 öre per kWh, making it an ideal time for energy-intensive activities. A shower, a bath, or charging the car during these hours will cost a fraction compared to today's expensive morning hours.
Interesting Facts About Electricity Prices
Did you know that if we had today's lowest electricity price all year, it would have cost nothing to heat a normal-sized house of 160 square meters? This compared to the most expensive hour today, where the same heating would cost 31,807 kronor for the entire year. A reminder of how much electricity prices can vary and affect our household costs.
