Electricity Prices in Sweden: Today's and Tomorrow's Forecast

On January 22, 2025, Sweden will experience a fluctuating electricity price curve. Today's electricity prices start low during the night but rise significantly during the morning and afternoon. For the early morning hours (12:00 AM - 5:59 AM), prices range between 32-40 öre per kWh. After that, prices increase sharply, peaking between 5:00 PM - 5:59 PM with a price of 2 kronor and 33 öre per kWh.

Free Electricity Usage During the Night

For night owls, the cheapest hour during the night, from 2:00 AM - 2:59 AM, is an ideal time to carry out energy-intensive activities. It is during this hour that it costs nothing to take a bath, shower, charge the car, or play games. A shower that consumes 4 kWh, a bath that consumes 6 kWh, and charging an electric car that consumes 60 kWh are all free during this hour.

High Electricity Prices in the Afternoon

The most expensive time of the day occurs between 5:00 PM - 5:59 PM, when the electricity price reaches 2 kronor and 33 öre per kWh. During this hour, it costs, for example, 14 kronor to charge an electric car that consumes 60 kWh. A bath costs 14 kronor, while a dishwashing load costs 3 kronor and 49 öre.

Electricity Prices Tomorrow: A Smoother Curve

Tomorrow, January 23, 2025, electricity prices are expected to be more stable with a lower peak compared to today. During the night (12:00 AM - 5:59 AM), prices are relatively low, and it is free to use electricity between 3:00 AM - 3:59 AM. This is an excellent time to charge the electric car or run the dishwasher.

Electricity Prices During the Day and Evening

During the day tomorrow, from 6:00 AM - 6:59 PM, prices will vary between 1 krona and 76 öre to 1 krona and 27 öre per kWh. The evening, from 7:00 PM - 11:59 PM, offers more affordable electricity usage with prices ranging from 51 öre to 26 öre per kWh.

Interesting Facts About Electricity Prices and Consumption

If we had experienced the lowest electricity price all year, it would have cost nothing to heat a normal-sized house of 160 sqm, with an annual consumption of 18,000 kWh. However, with today's highest electricity price, the same heating would cost 41,893 kronor.

It is interesting to note how electricity prices affect household energy costs depending on the time of day. Planning energy usage can lead to significant savings, especially during the hours when electricity prices are at their lowest.
