Job Opening for Personal Ombudsman

The position is located within the Social Administration, which is one of eight administrations in Linköping Municipality. The Social Administration is responsible for exercising authority, ordering services, and managing its own operations in the areas of individual and family care, LSS, and social psychiatry. We ensure that all residents receive the support they are entitled to. Do you want to improve the everyday life, future, and quality of life for the residents of Linköping? With us, you can combine important tasks with a meaningful daily life. Welcome to us!

Your Responsibilities

As a personal ombudsman, your task is to be a powerful support for individuals with mental disabilities who need help influencing their life situation and strengthening their participation in society. You work closely with each client and always base your work on their needs and wishes to create conditions for a more independent and equal life.

In your role, you support the client in their contact with authorities, healthcare providers, and other actors, and you are often present at meetings concerning important issues related to finances, housing, and care. You assist the client in filling out forms, applying for services, and appealing decisions, all to ensure they have access to the support and rights they need.

In addition to individual support, you also play an important role in identifying and reporting systemic shortcomings that limit the target group's opportunities for help and support. These insights contribute to continuous improvement efforts at a strategic level in the municipality and among collaborating partners.

Your Workplace

As a personal ombudsman, you will be part of the Near Social Services department – an important first contact point for the Social Administration. The department has a strong focus on providing accessible, early, and preventive interventions in prioritized areas, where help reaches close to the client's everyday environment and often without a needs assessment.

You will be part of an engaged team of six personal ombudsmen and a team leader, where the work combines collaboration in pairs with independent assignments. We are in an exciting phase! After a period of generational shifts, our team now consists of a mix of new talents and experienced colleagues. This gives us a 'fresh start' feeling in the group, where we together shape our working methods and build our common culture. The operations are conducted in collaboration between the municipalities of Linköping, Åtvidaberg, Kinda, and Ydre, to provide safe and qualitative support to individuals living or staying in these areas.

Your placement is centrally located in Linköping at Hertig Karlsgatan 2, where you will work office hours with flexible options.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker or behavioral scientist, with a B driver's license for manual transmission. It is advantageous if you have training in social law and experience working with adults with mental health issues or have worked directly with our target group.

As a person, you are a skilled collaborator who relates to others in a responsive and smooth manner, listens actively, and resolves conflicts constructively. You are independent and take responsibility for structuring and driving your work forward. With a service-oriented approach, you are calm, attentive, and accommodating, with a genuine desire to find solutions that make a difference for those we support. You have good judgment and can weigh complex information to make wise decisions in every situation.
