Your Role
As a Systems Safety Engineer in the Surface Vessel Technology department, you will work in one or more of our exciting development and support projects with a central role and objective to deliver safe systems and vessels for our customers and end-users.
The role includes, among other things, identifying, analyzing, and minimizing risks in technical systems at an early stage of development to prevent potential accidents that could harm people, property, and the environment. The work encompasses the entire lifecycle of the system and includes hardware, software, functional interfaces, and interaction with users and other external systems.
You will be part of a team of systems safety engineers with a strong interest in safety and a commitment to developing the department and its capabilities. Internally, you will collaborate closely with system engineers, designers, and other interdisciplinary disciplines, as well as externally through contact with suppliers and customers to ensure a safe end product.
Main Responsibilities:
- Planning and management of systems safety work in development projects.
- Review and risk analysis of design solutions in complex systems at an early stage of development to identify safety risks in systems, design, and integration.
- Formulation and allocation of safety requirements on technical systems to reduce or eliminate risk.
- Contact with national and international customers in projects to present analyses, safety risks, and results of safety work.
- Represent the area of systems safety in projects and be leading and advisory in systems safety issues.
- Documentation and preparation of safety regulations, analyses, evidence, and safety statements that prove our products are safe to use.
You will work from our office in Karlskrona. The job may involve a few days of business travel per year, mainly within Sweden between our various locations.
Your Profile
We are looking for someone who is solution-oriented with a solid interest in both people and technology. You will work with a high degree of responsibility both independently and in project form, which is why good communication and initiative skills are important traits. You see logical connections, are analytical, pragmatic, and have good judgment. You are structured, responsible, and can drive your tasks with integrity and in a convincing manner. You also need to have good ability to plan, organize, and document your work in both the short and long term.
Necessary Skills:
- Civil or university engineer, preferably with a focus on risk or fire.
- Experience in occupational safety, product or systems safety within relevant industry or activity.
- Knowledge in risk management, risk assessment, CE marking/product legislation, and/or systems safety work against military standards.
- Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Success Factors:
- Good ability to plan and organize work in the short and long term.
- Good ability to create understanding of technical system solutions.
- Experience in software safety, electrical safety, or weapon/ammunition safety.
The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may involve requirements for certain citizenship.
