The Stockholm South Police Area is Sweden's largest police area. Nearly 1 million residents live and work here. The Stockholm South Police Area is divided into eight local police areas: Globen, Farsta, Skärholmen, Nacka, Haninge/Nynäshamn, Huddinge, Botkyrka, and Södertälje. At the police area level, there are the investigation section, serious crime section, surveillance section, section for crimes in close relationships, operational support section, and the investigation duty section. Furthermore, there is a police area office.

The investigation duty section is organized at the police area level. The function is responsible for preliminary investigation leadership and initial investigative measures for the entire police area around the clock. The mission of the investigation duty section is to meet and manage the police area's inflow of crime reports at an early stage of the investigation, both in prioritized cases involving, for example, detained persons and in mass crimes. Our goal is to be Sweden's leading duty section. We achieve this by taking the right actions at the right time with quality and commitment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As the duty investigation officer, you are responsible for the initial investigative measures in the cases that come into the police area. In cases involving detained persons, you will review the detention and decide on custody in police arrest. You have very good knowledge of preliminary investigation leadership as well as the authority's mission, goals, and governing documents to prioritize and make adequate decisions within the framework of a preliminary investigation.

You will:

  • Actively lead the investigation duty section's investigators in ongoing preliminary investigations.
  • Ensure the quality of the external operations' reporting and documentation and support in extensive first-hand measures.
  • Coordinate and distribute cases according to distribution plans and agreements.
  • Create dialogue and participation together with the duty section's investigators and other staff in the police area.
  • Act as a preliminary investigation leader in everything from minor offenses to serious crimes. The assignment also includes handling and final reporting of expedited prosecution cases.

Over the past year, the duty operations have begun an exciting development journey where we are working to increase our operational capacity.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Swedish police exam according to Regulation (2014:1105).
  • The Police Authority's National Preliminary Investigation Training (NFU) or another comparable education that qualifies you to lead preliminary investigations.
  • Experience of independent criminal investigation work regarding several different types of crimes.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • At least six months of continuous experience working as a preliminary investigation leader or equivalent position.
  • Experience working with expedited prosecution.
  • Knowledge of working according to the UL strategy.
  • Experience in leadership as you have or have acted as a manager or supervisor at the direct level.
  • Experience presenting cases to prosecutors.
  • Completed any of the Police Authority's management training or other internal/external leadership training.
