Supervisory Officer/Inspector for the Building Permit Unit
The urban development process is responsible for developing and safeguarding the living environment in Nacka by promoting good construction, effective communication, and a healthy environment. As an employee in the areas of planning, exploitation, building permits, land surveying, and the environment, you work to realize our visions now and for future generations.
We are looking for a supervisory officer/inspector to join the Building Permit Unit's supervisory team who can and wants to contribute to the development in one of Sweden's most expansive municipalities – do you want to be part of it?
The Building Permit Unit currently consists of 28 employees responsible for processing building permits, preliminary decisions, notification cases, and supervisory matters. We are now looking for another person who wants to be part of our supervisory team and handle supervisory notifications according to the Planning and Building Act, the Planning and Building Ordinance, and the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's building regulations.
Here, there are opportunities for you who want an exciting and varied job in construction and urban planning to contribute with commitment and innovative thinking.
Your Assignment
You will handle supervisory notifications regarding, for example, illegal construction, neglected plots, and traffic-hazardous vegetation, and drive these cases from notification to resolution. The handling includes supervisory visits, investigations, communication, and decision-making. You will also draft proposals for decisions to the Environmental and Urban Planning Committee and prepare and present cases for the politicians.
In the role of supervisory officer, you collaborate with colleagues within the group, where you support each other throughout the case process. You also collaborate with permit officers, building inspectors, and the housing adaptation support team to facilitate progress in cases. You will also help develop routines and working methods for the team's future work.
Is this you?
You appreciate a workplace with varied tasks and a lot of customer contact. We are primarily looking for someone with a few years of experience as a supervisory officer, alternatively another equivalent position, and who is used to working in a politically governed organization.
Your Experience
We would like you to have experience in public authority exercise, and if you have experience with the Planning and Building Act, the Planning and Building Ordinance, the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's building regulations, the Administrative Procedure Act, and/or the Coercive Fine Act, it is an advantage. You have relevant academic education in urban development, law, or other suitable background. You also preferably have experience in permit processing and/or a role as a building inspector. A driving license (B) is required.
Personal Qualities
We place great importance on personal suitability and are looking for someone who is service-oriented and pedagogical and who finds it easy to explain rules and decisions clearly and understandably. You are structured, responsible, and have good judgment while being confident in your authority role. You work independently and take initiative to drive your work forward but also enjoy collaborating and contributing to a good working atmosphere within the team. You have a strong customer focus and a solution-oriented approach.
To succeed in the job, you need to have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. The job involves many contacts with customers, and therefore you need to have high integrity, empathy, and good communication skills.
You will also have close cooperation with the group manager, unit manager, and other officers in the Building Permit Unit.
We appreciate if you have experience working with development work. If you have an interest and understanding of digitalization and building processes, you have great opportunities to express your creativity with us.
The Building Permit Unit consists of three groups: permit officers, service and development, and supervision and implementation. You will be part of a team with three other full-time supervisory officers in the supervision and implementation group. The group, led by a group manager, also includes building inspectors and officers for housing adaptation support.
In Nacka, you have the opportunity to work in a municipality that wants to be the best in Sweden at being a municipality, where we have openness and diversity as our vision. Our fundamental value is to trust people's knowledge, will, and ability.
We are one of Sweden's leading municipalities and at the forefront of our digitalization work, which has significant effects on our processes.
We Offer Our New Colleague
- A fully digitized process
- Short decision paths and extensive delegation
- Great opportunity to influence the processing process for progress in cases
- Extensive knowledge of building permits and planning within the supervisory team
- We believe in the collective knowledge and unified assessments of the group
- Permissive remote work and flexible hours

- Wellness time and wellness allowance
- Well-equipped gym
At the Building Permit Unit, we are an inclusive group with high ceilings and great respect for each other. We have diverse academic backgrounds, from architects to engineers and urban planners. With us, you will work towards challenging goals while contributing to urban development in a municipality in constant development.
The position is a permanent employment at 100%.
