The Sollentuna operational area includes the Sollentuna remand facility and the Jakobsberg remand branch. Over 450 employees and 15 managers manage, lead, and develop an operation that receives approximately 370 detainees. The largest professional group is prison officers, but administrative staff, nurses, and duty officers also work here. For the detainees, there are opportunities for employment in practical work training, studies, and other structured activities.
The Sollentuna remand facility belongs to the Stockholm Region and is one of the country's larger secure remand facilities where one day is never like the other. The facility is located near Sollentuna center and in close proximity to the commuter train station. It takes about 16 minutes by commuter train from central Stockholm to Sollentuna.
RESPONSIBILITIES
All detainees suspected of crimes have a personal plan for their remand period. This plan outlines the measures that need to be taken to break isolation and counteract the negative consequences that may arise due to remand. As a client officer, you are part of the workgroup that manages 48 detainees in a communal unit at the remand facility. Your task is to keep each detainee's remand plan continuously revised and updated. This includes:
- Establishing the remand plan for new detainees in collaboration with the unit's prison officers
- Preparing and presenting proposals for decisions for the decision-making manager, e.g., claims for compensation and double occupancy
- Making independent decisions regarding, for example, placement in isolation or detainees' phone contacts
- Calculating sentences
- Monitoring the detainee's legal process, e.g., dates for trials, hearings, etc.
- Monthly participation in the overarching remand legal meeting where decision-making managers and client officers meet to exchange information and knowledge to maintain a high standard in legal work
- Collaboration with client officers and other functions at the remand facility as a whole to determine who should be placed in the communal unit.
- You also have a supportive and advisory role towards the 25 prison officers in the workgroup regarding issues related to the legal process and the legislation governing the detainee's rights and obligations.
In a remand facility, one day is never like the other; you encounter a varied and sometimes fast-paced everyday life where you need to be prepared to handle the unforeseen.
QUALIFICATIONS
In the role of client officer, you need to be comfortable working independently and planning and organizing your workday. You have good administrative skills. You demonstrate judgment under time pressure and can make quick decisions and act on them, despite limited information or difficult circumstances. Furthermore, you have an easy time listening, communicating, and resolving conflicts constructively, ensuring that messages are conveyed and that expectations are clear for all parties involved. It is important to us that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally with your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Academic or other education, preferably with a focus on law, social sciences, or behavioral sciences
- Good administrative skills
