Technical Business Developer at the Digital Collection Unit

Are you interested in working with the collection and preservation of digital cultural heritage? Do you want a role where technology, operations, and collaboration meet?

As a technical business developer at the Digital Collection Unit, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the Swedish National Library's (KB) governmental operations by developing, supporting, and ensuring the quality of technically complex deliveries of digital material (TV, radio, film, podcasts, music, news agencies, and more).

Our operations are growing rapidly – digital deliveries are increasing, delivery methods are becoming more advanced, and metadata requirements are broadening. In this role, you will be a central link between operations, technology, and external suppliers, contributing to sustainable and appropriate technical solutions over time.

With us, you will receive a close introduction to the operations, with support from the workgroup and the opportunity to shadow experienced colleagues to gradually build your competence in the role.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will work at the intersection of technology, operations, and supplier contacts. You will closely collaborate with suppliers and internal functions to ensure functioning technical flows and good quality in the digital deliveries.

You will:

  • be part of a technical workgroup that develops and manages our technical solutions, delivery channels, and our digital preservation.
  • handle technical questions both internally and externally, for example from suppliers, technicians, metadata experts, and other parts of the agency.
  • work with ongoing support, troubleshooting, and quality assurance, as well as support the long-term technical development of our processes and delivery methods.
  • contribute to the development of our internal systems, tools, and metadata specifications.

The role suits you if you enjoy working where practical technical work goes hand in hand with improvement work and collaboration.

As an employee at KB, you contribute your experience and competence to the continuous development of KB's operations and participate in fostering a good and respectful work climate.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

To succeed in this role, you need:

  • relevant technical education or other competence that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • knowledge of and ability to understand metadata standards/formats, such as DDEX, ONIX, JSON
  • experience with digital delivery methods such as FTP and RSS
  • experience with SQL database management
  • basic scripting or programming skills, such as Python, Java, and Linux shell scripting
  • the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with both internal systems and open-source software
  • an interest in web publishing and how digital information moves between systems
  • good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish and English

Desirable qualifications include:

  • experience in technical support or user assistance
  • experience with metadata standards, digital delivery methods, and digital preservation
  • experience in digital preservation, digital archives, or similar input processes
  • experience in testing, quality assurance, and systematic improvement work

We are looking for someone who is responsible and structured, with good analytical skills and a meticulous working style. You enjoy working both independently and in collaboration with others, and you easily create good partnerships in dialogue with both colleagues and external suppliers.

You are communicative and can pedagogically convey technically complex issues to different target groups. Furthermore, you are solution-oriented, service-minded, and patient in your work with support, troubleshooting, and quality issues. You contribute with an unpretentious attitude and an interest in developing work methods and processes over time.

Great importance is placed on personal attributes.

Employment and Start Date

This is a permanent position that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement. The position is located in Stockholm with some possibility for remote work by agreement.

Welcome with your application by February 26. Attach your CV and describe why you are interested in the job and what you can contribute; you do not need to attach a cover letter.
