University Lecturer in Statistics
at the Department of Statistics
The Department of Statistics has about 25 employees who both teach and conduct research.
We offer teaching at both undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as doctoral education. Research is conducted in several areas, including biostatistics, econometrics/time series analysis, high-dimensional multivariate linear models, text data analysis, causal inference, and structural equation models.
Job Responsibilities
The position includes teaching, examination, research, and administration, with teaching being a significant part of the job. High demands are placed on pedagogical skills and the ability to adapt the level and content of teaching to different target groups. Teaching at the undergraduate level is largely conducted in Swedish, while teaching at the advanced level is conducted exclusively in English. Teaching includes course responsibility and course administration. The applicant is also expected to initiate and participate in pedagogical development work and take responsibility for institutional tasks.
Initially, the department needs reinforcement at the undergraduate level. Teaching may involve courses in basic statistics, but also econometrics, time series analysis, statistical learning, and multivariate methods. Teaching at the advanced level is also part of the job responsibilities. Supervision of theses in statistics at both undergraduate and advanced levels is also a necessary part of teaching.
The job responsibilities also include actively applying for external research funding and keeping up with developments in the subject area and societal developments that are relevant to the teacher's work at the university.
Statistical consultations may be included to a large extent.
In summary, the applicant is expected to contribute to the long-term development work of the department in both research and teaching.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligible for appointment as a university lecturer is one who has obtained a doctoral degree in statistics or has equivalent scientific competence, demonstrated pedagogical skills, has the ability to collaborate, and otherwise meets the suitability requirements necessary to perform the job responsibilities well. Experience in statistical applications is a requirement.
It is required that the pedagogical skills, scientific competence, and professional skills are relevant to the subject matter of the position and the job responsibilities included in the appointment.
For eligibility, documented ability to teach in Swedish and English is required.
