PhD Student in Education at Uppsala University

The Department of Education, Didactics and Educational Sociology (EDU) conducts research, doctoral education, undergraduate education, and commissioned education in pedagogy, didactics, and educational sociology.

EDU also offers several master's programs. EDU has approximately 250 employees, including around 175 teachers/researchers, 45 doctoral students, and 30 administrators. More information about the department's activities can be found at www.edu.uu.se (http://www.edu.uu.se).

Education is a scientific discipline that generates knowledge about the processes, both formal and informal, through which children, youth, and adults are shaped and transformed in various social, cultural, and institutional contexts, such as preschool, school, family, leisure, working life, and higher education. Education deals with various aspects of upbringing, education, learning, teaching, and its prerequisites and implementation. Questions raised concern how and why different forms of values, knowledge, and skills arise, are maintained, and change within and between generations, groups, and individuals.
