University Lecturers in Statistics
We are looking for one to two university lecturers in statistics for permanent positions at the School of Business.
Subject Area
The subject area for the position is: Statistics
Background
The School of Business at Örebro University is a place where education and research are conducted in the four subjects of business administration, informatics, economics, and statistics. We are accredited by AACSB, the largest global accreditation body and network for business schools – something that only five percent of the world’s 16,000 business schools have achieved.
The School of Business hosts the statistics subject at Örebro University and conducts education in statistics at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. In addition to the bachelor's program in statistics, courses are offered within the business administration program and several social science programs. At the advanced level, a two-year master's program in statistics has been awarded the title European Master in Official Statistics (EMOS) by Eurostat. The subject also provides courses within the framework of the master's programs in economics and financial economics.
Research within the subject group primarily focuses on applied time series analysis, Bayesian statistics, as well as survey methodology and statistical production. The research is conducted in close connection with application subjects, particularly collaborations with Statistics Sweden (SCB) and the economics subject can be mentioned.
Job Responsibilities
As a university lecturer, you will devote your working time to both teaching at all levels and research, as well as related collaboration. The job responsibilities include, in addition to teaching, research and collaboration, also development work, administration, and professional development. Teaching also includes supervision, examination, course development, planning, and evaluation.
Teaching takes place both at the undergraduate level in the bachelor's program in statistics and at the advanced level within the master's program. It may also include teaching in other courses within other programs at the university. The job responsibilities include teaching at all levels. The language of instruction is primarily Swedish at the undergraduate level and English at the advanced level. Pedagogical leadership assignments such as course and program responsibility may also be included in the job responsibilities.
