Description of the Research Group

At the Clinical Memory Research group, Department of Clinical Sciences Malmö, world-leading research is conducted on biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases such as Lewy body dementia and Parkinson's disease.

The research, which has become world-renowned through the BioFINDER projects, has been at the forefront of fluid-based biomarkers and brain imaging for several years, enabling early and accurate detection, diagnosis, and prognosis of diseases. The group consists of research and technical/administrative staff. The activities are located at the Biomedical Center (BMC) in Lund. Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility

The job responsibilities include statistical data processing and analysis. Production of scientific publications. Presentation of results at meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences. Visual assessment of brain imaging (MRI, amyloid-PET, and tau-PET). Managing the group's social media as well as participating in grant applications and report writing. Teaching and supervision of students may occur. The workplace is in Lund, but work in Malmö may occur.

Qualifications

The following are required for the position:

  • PhD or equivalent foreign degree in neuroscience or another related discipline. The PhD must be obtained by the time the employment decision is made.
  • Expertise in brain imaging, fluid-based biomarkers, neuropsychology, and statistical analysis/modeling.
  • Expertise in visual inspection of MRI, amyloid-PET, and tau-PET (for example, for quality control, assessment of positivity for amyloid and tau, and established rating scales for MRI in Alzheimer's disease).
  • Good knowledge or research experience in Alzheimer's disease, alpha-synuclein-related diseases, aging, and cognition.
  • Strong ability to develop and conduct high-quality research, demonstrated by previous publications in high-impact scientific journals.
  • Good communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The job responsibilities require you to be driven, meticulous, detail-oriented, and persistent.

Desirable qualifications for the position include:

  • Successful applications for research grants.
  • Teaching ability demonstrated by presentations at international conferences and/or supervision of students/staff.
  • Familiarity with best practices in reproducibility and open science.

Conditions

The position is permanent with a preliminary start date of March 1, 2026, or by agreement. Full-time position (100%).
