Preschool Teacher at the Sámi School Board

The Sámi School Board is a government authority with its office located in Jåhkåmåhkke, including a school principal, controllers, HR, and administrators.

The Sámi school is an educational form equivalent to primary school, providing education from preschool to grade 6. The foundation of the education is based on Sámi culture and the Sámi language according to the curriculum for Sámi schools. The Sámi School Board also runs preschools in agreement with the respective municipality. The Sámi School Board operates in Giron, Gárasavvon, Váhtjer, Jåhkåmåhkke, and Dearna.

The Sámi School Board organizes distance education in Sámi languages and supports the development and production of teaching materials for Sámi education.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, implement, and evaluate education in accordance with preschool regulations and from a Sámi perspective, both individually and in teams. You will actively participate in developing successful learning environments together with others at the preschool. Participate in other work at the preschool together with staff. As a preschool teacher, you are responsible for the educational activities. We are looking for someone who collaborates easily, is responsible, positive, and always prioritizes the children's best interests. We see that you are curious, attentive, interested, and flexible. You are engaged and have a respectful approach in your interactions with children, parents, and colleagues. We place great emphasis on personal suitability as we are a small preschool where we depend on each other and a functioning collaboration.

Since we spend a lot of time outdoors in forests and fields and utilize the outdoor environments in our vicinity, you need to be able to work independently and navigate the various terrains satisfactorily. The children are aged 1-5 years and are very active, so it is important to be able to work independently.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preschool teacher degree with a valid teaching license, or other education deemed suitable by the employer. You must be proficient in Sámi, both spoken and written. You have a positive view of people and the ability to build good relationships as well as the ability to prevent and resolve conflicts. You are meticulous, flexible, and attentive to the needs of the students and enjoy working with children and youth.
