At our reception on Drottninggatan, we investigate and treat individuals with psychotic disorders. We work according to the method of Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT), which means we operate with high flexibility and availability, with most visits occurring outside the reception. The foundation of our approach is a recovery-oriented mindset. The team works integratively and consists of employees from both Region Skåne and Malmö City. At the reception, which consists of four teams, we have caregivers/nursing assistants, nurses, housing pedagogues, job specialists, doctors, peer supports, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, medical secretaries, and unit managers.

We are transitioning to the title of nursing assistant and will gradually phase out the title of caregiver in all our psychiatric operations. This work started on November 1, 2023. The change in title will not alter the need for specialist competence in psychiatry. Specialist competence remains very important and will continue to be developed. Within the administration, work has begun to assess what is needed for ongoing professional development, increased professional knowledge, and development opportunities related to patient work.

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant and has applied for/received proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

One of our employees will retire, and we therefore welcome a nursing assistant in psychiatry to join us at the Adult Psychiatric Reception for Psychosis on Drottninggatan in Malmö!

With us, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of tasks in a reception with high competence and a strong commitment to those we meet. As a nursing assistant with us, you will work in a multidisciplinary team close to the patient/participant and participate in routines that involve care, conversations, and other support for those we meet. In your role as a nursing assistant, you will also be the primary care contact for some of the team’s patients. This means that you will be the patient’s/participant’s closest contact at the reception, where you together with the participant/patient and the rest of the team will design care and support. Assessment of health status and needs for interventions will be continuously made by you and in consultation with doctors and other team members. Another important part of the job consists of regular collaboration with other organizations, including the municipality through coordinated individual plans (SIP). Your work will take place both in the patient’s/participant’s home environment, outdoors, and at the reception.

The position is placed in team Söder.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant. This means you have a recognized high school education in health and care (2500 points), approved health and care education through adult education (minimum 1350 points), or another equivalent nursing assistant education. Since the work largely involves communication and documentation, good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are a requirement. We prefer that you have a B driving license and are accustomed to cycling, as this facilitates the work.

It is an advantage if you have experience working in psychiatry or with patients with mental health issues. A strong interest in working with individuals with psychotic disorders is a prerequisite for the position. Additionally, good computer skills and basic IT knowledge are beneficial.

You have a genuine interest in psychiatric care and always prioritize the patient/participant. Furthermore, you have good prioritization skills and actively contribute to a good working environment. It is important that you can maintain a low-arousal approach in stressful and anxious situations, which is why we are looking for someone who is calm and stable in their personality. With a strong sense of service and responsibility and good collaboration skills, you humbly meet the various situations that may arise. You enjoy and are confident in mentoring students. We are keen to find the right person for the position and therefore place great importance on personal suitability.

Attach your nursing assistant certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have received it or your diploma with your application. If you have not yet received the certificate, you will be given the title of care assistant in psychiatry in the meantime. If you were permanently employed as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023, please provide a certificate confirming this.

OTHER

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant in health and care. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title of nursing assistant until June 30, 2033. At the time of interview/employment, you must be able to present proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by transitional provisions, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not nursing assistant.
