The Research Group

The research group focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson's disease and normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).

We utilize various radiological methods – especially magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) – to study both the pathophysiology of the diseases and their diagnostic characteristics.

The group is led by Charalampos Georgiopoulos, associate professor and senior physician in neuroradiology. Other members include four clinical doctoral students and a senior researcher, and we collaborate closely with MR physicists. We are a multidisciplinary and dynamic group with a strong clinical foundation and a common goal to improve the diagnosis and understanding of neurodegenerative conditions using advanced imaging diagnostics.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a medical student with an interest in deepening their knowledge in imaging diagnostics and neurodegenerative diseases. The assignment includes structuring and further developing a preliminary literature review on MRI imaging of meningeal lymphatic vessels, conducting additional literature searches as needed, and contributing to the writing of a review article.

The student is expected to work independently under supervision, participate in regular check-ins, and deliver drafts according to the agreed timeline.

Qualifications

The following are required for the position:

  • Active student in the medical program at Lund University.
  • Interest in imaging diagnostics and research.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a structured manner.
  • Good collaboration skills.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Previous experience in literature reviews or review articles (e.g., narrative/systematic review).
  • Experience working with statistical programs such as SPSS, R, or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of medical image interpretation or radiology.

Other Information

The position is temporary at 10% with a desired start date of 1/3 2026, or by agreement until 30/6 2026.

The position should not negatively affect the assistant's studies and cannot be combined with other employment. Regulations regarding educational employment as an assistant can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), Chapter 5, Sections 8-12.
