Job Description

As an electrical designer at AFRY, you will work with the entire chain of electrical design for industrial projects. The role involves producing electrical documentation, circuit diagrams, cable and connection lists, and material specifications using CAD tools such as Eplan or Elprocad. You will be an important part of the project team and responsible for the electrical design part, which requires close collaboration with automation engineers and project managers. The work primarily takes place at AFRY's office in Kalmar or at the client's site, with some opportunity for remote work.

We expect you to drive the design work from feasibility study to finished solution and contribute your expertise to ensure that the project delivers according to requirements and timelines. You will receive support from your manager and colleagues, as well as access to AFRY's extensive network of specialists. In the long term, there are good development opportunities – for example, to deepen your knowledge in advanced electrical design, take on the role of system engineer or project manager, and develop as a consultant with a holistic perspective in client assignments.

Some assignments may require security clearance, which means that the role may involve security-classified projects in the future.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of electrical designer, you need to have a problem-solving approach where you can quickly identify causes of issues in complex electrical designs, analyze different solution alternatives, and choose the most effective path forward. You are business-minded and structured, meaning you plan and organize your work with order in drawings and documentation, ensuring that the project meets agreed requirements, timelines, and budgets. The role also requires you to be ambitious – you take responsibility for driving tasks forward, actively seek improvements, and keep yourself updated on new technology. Finally, it is important that you are a team player who collaborates closely with colleagues and clients, shares knowledge, and contributes to a good working atmosphere.

Requirements

• Experience in electrical design within industry (manufacturing/process/food) and commissioning.
• At least a vocational education in automation/electrical design or equivalent experience
• Experience working in Eplan or Elprocad
• Experience with machine safety
• Swedish and English at a professional level in both spoken and written form

Desirable

• Knowledge of standards for Safe Machinery
• Experience with additional electrical design tools
• Knowledge/experience in programming control systems (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, ABB Control Builder / 800xA)
