Coordinators Wanted for Crime Prevention Work in Jönköping

Jönköping Municipality is a large employer with hundreds of different professional roles. We are growing in line with the municipality's development with more residents, more housing, and a greater range of services. We are always on the lookout for new talent - employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences, united by the common drive to create a better municipality to visit, live, work, and reside in.

Do you want to help us in the important crime prevention work for children and young people in vulnerable areas? We are looking for two coordinators who want to contribute to a safer Jönköping.

Your New Job

As a coordinator, you will work to create a comprehensive and up-to-date picture of the crime prevention needs and initiatives in Jönköping Municipality. Do you enjoy gathering and structuring complex information, building relationships, and creating foundations that lead to concrete improvements? Then you could be one of our two project-employed coordinators in the municipality-wide pilot project Safe Start within the Education Administration of Jönköping Municipality.

The project aims to detect and prevent crimes that affect children's safety and future risk of criminality at an early stage. By developing a structured and sustainable collaboration between families, preschools, schools, and social services, the project aims to strengthen support for children aged 1–15 years.

The Assignment

As a coordinator, you will play a central role in creating a comprehensive picture of the crime prevention initiatives available in the municipality – both centrally and in specific geographical areas, including socially vulnerable areas. The assignment includes mapping ongoing and planned initiatives among a wide range of actors – municipal operations, civil society, property owners, schools, social services, recreational activities, police, and other relevant partners. You will analyze the purpose, target groups, relevance, and implementation of the initiatives and assess how they relate to the needs and challenges present in the operations and in the municipality as a whole.

The work also involves collecting and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data, such as crime statistics, safety measurements, interviews, and observations. You will promote collaboration between different actors and contribute to continuity in crime prevention work. The results will be compiled into reports that you will present to management and partners, and you will develop proposals for measures that strengthen the coordination of crime prevention initiatives between families, preschools, and schools. An important part of the assignment is also to develop and implement a needs-driven chain based on the needs of children and families.

The work takes place both in operations and areas and through analysis and compilation in the office. You will work closely with the deputy head of education in both primary and preschool, where the deputy head of preschool will be your immediate supervisor.

Your Competence

You have an academic education in areas such as criminology, sociology, political science, social work, or behavioral science, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the assignment. The role requires that you have experience in investigative work, analysis, or mapping, as well as a good ability to work with both qualitative and quantitative methods. You also have experience collaborating in complex organizations and hold a B driver's license as travel is required in the position.

It is advantageous if you have experience in crime prevention work, work in socially vulnerable areas, or previous collaboration with actors such as municipalities, police, social services, schools, or civil society. Experience in project management or collaboration processes is also a plus.

As a person, you are analytical and can see connections in complex information. You work in a structured and independent manner, have good communication skills both verbally and in writing, and enjoy working flexibly in varying environments and forms.

Good to Know

The position is a full-time project employment for 2026, with the possibility of extension depending on the project's continuation. Interviews will be held on February 20 and 25. To facilitate the recruitment process, we ask you to attach relevant certificates and grades for the position you are applying for. Please note that the school law requires all employees to present an extract from the criminal record.
