Office for Coordination of National Security and Defense Issues

The Office for Coordination of National Security and Defense Issues is tasked with supporting the National Security Advisor in analyzing, coordinating, and directing issues as well as organizing trips/visits within the scope of the office's responsibilities. The office is responsible for the overall coordination of the government's NATO policy and supports the National Security Advisor in assisting the Prime Minister with ongoing NATO and defense policy issues. The office is also responsible for space issues, defense industrial matters, and export issues within the defense sector.
We are now seeking an experienced officer who will be responsible for the ongoing management and coordination of NATO issues, monitoring the National Security Strategy, and matters concerning capability development within total defense, including defense industrial and export issues.
The work is characterized by close dialogue with the Prime Minister's political staff, the National Security Advisor, the management support, the offices under the National Security Advisor, and other relevant parties within the Government Offices. Ongoing daily cooperation with the office for foreign and security policy issues will be particularly important. The work environment is creative and varied, maintaining a high pace. A key part of the assignment is the ability to represent the office in various contexts internally, externally, and internationally.

Your background
We are looking for someone with an academic degree in political science, law, or a relevant field, or alternatively another educational background deemed equivalent by the employer. You also have several years of experience working in the Government Offices and have experience working closely with political leadership. Furthermore, you have several years of experience working with current defense and security policy issues and analyses within the Government Offices, the EU, and NATO, as well as experience in identifying, coordinating, and creating consensus on issues affecting many in both national and international contexts. The position also requires several years of successful coordination and analysis of relevant activities with positive results, as well as successfully representing an organization in various contexts with many stakeholders.
You have a very good understanding of the working methods and decision-making processes of the Government Offices and the regulations governing them, as well as insight and understanding of what it is like to work in a politically governed organization. You also have good knowledge of the military defense and defense industrial and export issues, and a very good understanding of Swedish defense and security policy. We also see that you have very good knowledge of NATO and knowledge of the EU's role in the defense area.
Knowledge of and experience with national security and defense issues within the area of responsibility of the Prime Minister's Office is an advantage, as is experience working across multiple ministries and agencies in a relevant field. Knowledge of the structure and design of total defense is also an advantage.
You must be able to express yourself very well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. Knowledge of languages beyond Swedish and English is an advantage.
