Operations Controller at FBA

Your Responsibilities

You will work as an Operations Controller in the Management and Method Unit. This unit is responsible for external and internal governance of operations and finances and provides support to the agency's management (Director General, management team, and managers) regarding operational and financial governance. The unit also provides methodological support for the implementation of the agency's assignments. The Management and Method Unit consists of 12 employees, including a manager, and you will collaborate closely with colleagues in the unit, department, and core operations.

In your role as Operations Controller, you will develop and manage governance models, as well as processes and tools for planning and follow-up. You will focus on ensuring that planning and follow-up facilitate learning and development to achieve sustainable long-term results. You will coordinate and produce the agency's operational plan and follow-up reports per term, and conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of the agency's results, efficiency, and goal fulfillment. You will identify deviations and areas for improvement, and provide support for decision-making. The work also includes leading the risk analysis at the central level. In collaboration with the finance function, you will ensure the connection between finance and operations and also provide support to managers regarding budgeting, follow-up, and forecasting. Additionally, you will contribute to work led by other employees, for example related to annual reports and budget documentation.

A key part of the job is to provide support and advice to managers and employees, both by proactively identifying challenges, suggesting solutions, and answering questions. In your role, you will lead your own processes or participate in processes and working groups that concern the entire agency. A large part of the work is performed in close collaboration with others.

You will work in an information-intensive environment and gain a holistic perspective on the agency's operations, which you should be able to translate and utilize in your work. The operations are complex, and it is advantageous to have a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach. You will contribute with analyses and documentation that support strategic decisions and enable effective resource utilization in complex contexts.

Your Profile

Qualifications

• Academic degree in a relevant field, preferably in social sciences, economics, or a corresponding area deemed equivalent by FBA.
• Current experience in leading processes and coordinating operational planning and follow-up, such as Operations Controller, business analysis, or other experience deemed equivalent by FBA.
• Very good knowledge of digital tools for planning and follow-up.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious

• Experience of government governance at the central level in an agency.
• Experience in operational planning and budgeting within government operations.
• Experience working with system support such as Stratsys and Insikt or other business intelligence systems.
• Experience with adaptive and agile working methods.
• Experience in FBA's operational areas or other international operations.

To succeed in this role, you need to be responsible, structured, and self-driven. The work requires flexibility and the ability to take personal responsibility for delivering according to agreements.

You have strong analytical skills and work from a holistic perspective that contributes to achieving the agency's goals. The role involves collaboration with managers and employees throughout the organization, which requires you to be communicative and have a pedagogical way of conveying information.

You will be employed as a civil servant in the role of Operations Controller. The position is a permanent employment with an initial probationary period and will commence as soon as possible, by agreement. The place of employment is Stockholm. The position may be security classified.

FBA works with international peace operations and development cooperation. The agency conducts training, research, and method development to support peace and state-building in conflict and post-conflict countries. We also contribute civil personnel and expertise to peace and election observation missions led by the EU, UN, and OSCE. The agency is named after Folke Bernadotte, the first mediator of the UN.
