Junior Lawyer at the Swedish Schools Inspectorate's Legal Unit

The Swedish Schools Inspectorate works for a school where all children and students have equal rights to a good education and knowledge in a stimulating and safe environment. Each individual child and student has the right to develop as far as possible based on their circumstances. The operations consist of three branches: supervision, quality review, and licensing. We are located in Gothenburg, Linköping, Lund, Stockholm, and Umeå.

The Workplace

The Legal Unit is a department within the Division of Operational Support and Law located at the Swedish Schools Inspectorate's headquarters. The Legal Unit has overall responsibility for the authority's school law and administrative law issues and serves as a support function to the management and the authority's regional operations. The unit is responsible for legal quality assurance of decisions and coordination of principled legal positions. The unit also manages the authority's processes within supervision and licensing matters in administrative courts and cases in the Teachers' Disciplinary Board. The Legal Unit is also involved in preparing the authority's consultation responses.

Job Responsibilities

As a junior lawyer in the Legal Unit, you will assist the rest of the headquarters with legal support in, among other things, confidentiality assessments and disclosure issues, as well as quality assurance in authority decisions regarding disclosure matters. You will also conduct basic legal investigations primarily in administrative law but also to some extent in school law.

Qualifications

You should have:

  • a law degree
  • notarial qualifications or equivalent experience

It is advantageous to have:

  • experience with issues of public access and confidentiality
  • experience working with administrative law issues within public administration
  • experience with school law issues

The Position

The position is a fixed-term employment for 12 months. Start date is according to agreement. Location is Stockholm.
