Stiftelsen KvinnofolkhögskolanVästra Götalands län, Göteborg
Previous experience is desired
About us
Kvinnofolkhögskolan is a folk high school in central Gothenburg with a feminist profile. Here, women, trans people, and non-binary individuals of various ages, backgrounds, goals, and study habits work and study together. We offer courses at the primary and secondary school levels, courses focused on feminist studies, and SFI. Our vision is to create an inclusive and safe learning environment where all participants feel welcome and respected.
About the job
Kvinnofolkhögskolan's highly regarded writing course Your Silence Will Not Protect You is looking for an educator and text discussion facilitator.
Your Silence Will Not Protect You is a distance course at 25% study pace with four physical meetings per academic year. The course is aimed at women, trans people, and non-binary individuals, bringing together both beginners and very experienced literary writers interested in feminism and anti-racism. As an educator and facilitator, you will be responsible for reading and providing feedback on participants' literary texts, leading group discussions, and conducting lectures and writing exercises in full class. The course is characterized by an exploratory approach to language, form, and power, where different experiences and expressions meet in a shared learning environment.
The work involves:
● Presence at Kvinnofolkhögskolan during at least three of the four physical course meetings per academic year
● Teaching via videoconference approximately once a month on weekday evenings
● Participation in some teacher team meetings during the academic year
Other work, such as lesson planning, text reading, and efforts to promote the course to reach new participants, will be done remotely and can be performed at times you choose. Dates for course weekends and teaching evenings will be established before each academic year in consultation with the teaching team.
Travel compensation to Gothenburg will be provided for physical meetings if you reside in another location.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
● Extensive experience in their own outward-facing literary writing
● Good experience in reading and providing constructive feedback on others' texts
● Experience participating in writing contexts, such as spoken poetry, writing courses, writing collectives, or other literary contexts
● Good knowledge of literature that addresses racism and migration
● Interest in – and preferably experience in – leading groups
It is an advantage if you:
● Are professionally active in the literary field, for example as an author, spoken word artist, or similar
● Have experience working from a post-colonial and/or queer or disability rights perspective
● Work or have worked in multilingual contexts, or write in multiple languages yourself
● Have artistic experience working with issues of exile, migration, racism, and language
Teaching will primarily be conducted in Swedish, with some English as support. Therefore, we are looking for someone who can teach in Swedish and use simple English in an environment where many participate in their second language.
