Inspector Against Welfare Crime
In Trelleborg, we work together for a growing successful community where it is good to live. Our 61 villages and 21 districts are creative meeting places that bubble with life. Here we want things, tell about them, and come just as we are. This means we welcome others in the same generous and curious way.
Welcome to take your place on the journey!
The Community Planning Department has now undergone a comprehensive transformation journey that strengthens our ability to contribute to Trelleborg's growth and sustainable development. Since the beginning of 2026, we have a new, modern, and long-term sustainable organization in place, designed to meet future challenges and opportunities with clear direction and high professionalism.
The new structure consists of three departments: The Rescue Service, The Building and Environment Department, and The Planning and Geodata Department. Each department consists of two specialized units and is supported by a common secretariat unit, which gives us good conditions for effective, coordinated, and qualitative work. With our shared forward spirit and our focus on innovation and development, we lead community building in Trelleborg forward. Our work contributes to creating an attractive, safe, and sustainable community for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Since everything Trelleborg Municipality does is based on our core values of openness, respect, and responsibility, it is important and crucial that these values feel as self-evident to you as they are to us in our work.
The Workplace
The Environmental Unit is part of the Building and Environment Department, which consists of the building permit unit and the environmental unit, totaling approximately 26 employees with broad and complementary expertise.
In the environmental unit, we work with supervision and advice in the areas of environmental and health protection supervision, food control, serving permits, and tobacco supervision. We are an ambitious team of 13 people who develop together, benefit from each other's knowledge, and strive for a good working environment. With different professions and perspectives, we work together to develop Trelleborg in a long-term sustainable way.
Trelleborg Municipality offers both gender equality bonuses, wellness compensation, and the opportunity to exchange vacation pay for extra vacation days. Please read more about us as an employer here: Work with us (https://www.trelleborg.se/naringsliv-arbete/jobba-hos-oss/)
Job Responsibilities
In the role of inspector against welfare crime, you will work with supervision and authority as a central tool in crime prevention efforts. The assignment aims to detect, prevent, and counter welfare crime and contribute to a fairer and safer Trelleborg.
The work primarily focuses on proactive supervision according to the Environmental Code, with a particular emphasis on environmentally hazardous activities. The role also includes coordinated and proactive supervision within several regulations, such as the Planning and Building Act, food legislation, and alcohol legislation. An important part of the work is to investigate incoming tips, identify risk activities, and detect irregularities through analysis and supervision across multiple areas.
You will work both preventively and advisory, but also as a requirement setter and decision-maker in your role as an authority. Collaboration is a central part of the assignment, and you will work closely with other operations within Trelleborg Municipality, including within the framework of Safer Trelleborg, as well as with external actors such as the Police Authority, the Work Environment Authority, the Rescue Service, other municipalities, and the local business community.
Focus areas may vary over time, but the goal remains the same – to contribute to counteracting unhealthy competition, illegal activities, and human trafficking through supervision and cooperation, thereby strengthening safety in the municipality.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a relevant academic degree, such as environmental and health protection, or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have experience in supervision and authority according to the Environmental Code, preferably with a focus on environmentally hazardous activities.
You are accustomed to working on cases where regulatory compliance is lacking and where conditions may be complex. You see supervision as an important tool in crime prevention efforts and have a good ability to analyze information, see connections, and detect deviations. Experience in coordinated supervision or work within the Planning and Building Act, food legislation, or alcohol legislation is advantageous, as is the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new regulations and working methods.
Since the work involves extensive contacts with operators, other authorities, and the municipality's residents, high demands are placed on your communication skills. You express yourself clearly and professionally in both spoken and written Swedish and English. Additional language skills are an advantage.
To succeed in the role, you need to be confident in the authority role and have the courage to make decisions even in complex and sometimes resistant situations. You work in a structured and analytical manner, have good judgment, and can combine a professional approach with clear requirements.
The role is new in Trelleborg Municipality, which means we are looking for someone who has the commitment and drive to help develop working methods, methods, and collaboration forms in the area of welfare crime. You enjoy working independently but also have good collaboration skills and see the value of effective teamwork.
A B driver's license is a requirement for the position.
