Job Responsibilities
Malmö is a pioneer in climate and environmental work, and sustainability permeates our entire organization and city. With the courage to try new things and find solutions together with others, we drive the transition forward and show the way for other cities in Sweden and Europe. We are transforming - for Malmö and for the planet. Do you want to join us on our journey and make a difference?
Supervision is an effective tool in crime prevention work, but success requires collaboration between authorities. Your mission is to contribute to a fairer and safer Malmö through supervision according to the Environmental Code and collaboration with other authorities. Within the assignment Safe Malmö, we work to counteract unhealthy competition, illegal activities, and human trafficking.
The position will primarily focus on outreach work in the environmental protection area, supervising waste transports, vehicle workshops, product supervision, and illegal environmentally hazardous activities.
Within the unit for safety and coordinated supervision, we also work with supervision of illegal housing, food fraud, and hygienic treatment operations. Focus areas may change over time, but the purpose will remain the same; to work for a safer Malmö.
A large part of the work involves outreach and investigating incoming tips. Your tasks will include acting together with other authorities such as the Police Authority, the Work Environment Authority, and the Southern Rescue Service. As an employee in the unit for safety and coordinated supervision, you will work preventively in advisory and collaborative assignments, both internal and external. In your role as an authority representative, you will also set requirements and make decisions.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a university degree of 180 credits in environmental and health protection, natural sciences, or another field that the employer deems equivalent.
Experience in supervisory work according to the Environmental Code is an advantage. We prefer candidates with experience working in a public organization with authority responsibilities.
To succeed and thrive in your role, you need to be confident in the authority role. You are willing to make difficult decisions and communicate them in a humble, simple, and pleasant manner. You should be easy to collaborate with and see cooperation between authorities as a given.
We seek someone with a strong commitment to environmental and health protection issues, and like us, you have a vision of a sustainable, safe, and just city. You can work independently, take great responsibility for your tasks, and have good collaboration skills. Since we conduct outreach work, it is important that you are persistent. Furthermore, you need to be calm and stable as you sometimes need to handle pressured situations.
You have good communication skills and can express yourself well, both verbally and in writing in Swedish and English. Additional language skills are an advantage.
