We are now looking for a postdoctoral researcher in natural language processing for the project TrustLLM – Democratising trustworthy and efficient large language model technology for Europe. The project is funded by the EU's Horizon Europe program and coordinated by Linköping University.
Your tasks
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in the tasks, but no more than one-fifth of the working time.
The work will be carried out within the EU-funded project TrustLLM. The main purpose of TrustLLM is to develop an open, reliable, and fact-based large-scale language model, initially focused on the Germanic languages.

Within TrustLLM, you will primarily work on modularization and adaptation of large-scale language models to new languages, as well as tokenization and benchmarking for multilingual large language models, focusing on the Germanic languages.
Your qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have obtained a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be awarded no later than at the time the employment decision is made.
It is advantageous if your degree was awarded no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, it may be considered for those who obtained their doctoral degree earlier, for example, due to various types of statutory leave.
We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree in computer science or a related field relevant to the project. You should have documented ability to conduct qualified research in natural language processing and have published it in highly ranked international conferences or journals. You also have excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
Scientific curiosity and the ability to think independently are essential personal qualities for this position. You are expected to collaborate with colleagues in the natural language processing research group, at the Department of Computer Science, and with partner organizations within TrustLLM. You should enjoy working as part of a team and be willing to learn from your colleagues and, in turn, share your knowledge and experience with them. You are expected to contribute to the training of junior group members.

You will work within the natural language processing research group at the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS).

About the position
The position is a fixed-term employment for two years with the possibility of extension for a total employment period of no more than three years.
The postdoctoral position is full-time.
