Art Educators Wanted at Moderna Museet
Do you want to convey art to the public and contribute to a museum that engages? We are now looking for art educators who can fill in during vacations and other absences of the regular staff within our outreach activities.
Role Description and Responsibilities
Our main drive is to convey art to the public. As an art educator, you will bring modern and contemporary art to life through tours, engaging discussions, and creative activities. You should be able to talk about the art in the museum in a way that interests and engages our audience. You will ensure that visitors, participants, and your colleagues receive a professional and friendly welcome. The work is primarily conducted in Swedish but also in English, and occasionally in other languages.
Your responsibilities include:
- conducting engaging guided tours for adult groups of the museum's exhibitions
- interactive and engaging tours and workshops for everyone from the very young to elementary and high school students, teachers, youth, various groups, and adult education
- creative workshops based on various established themes
- digital tours via platforms such as Teams.
Activities may occur on weekdays, evenings, and weekends. As a part-time employee, it is mainly during weekends and during periods when regular staff are on vacation, such as during the summer.
Who Are You?
We place great importance on your personal qualities. As an art educator, you have a good pedagogical insight and easily adapt your communication to the needs of the group. You are comfortable speaking well-formulated to both small and large groups. You are professional and responsible by being prepared and arriving on time for tours. In stressful situations, you remain stable and focus on the right things. Naturally, you are collaborative and have an unpretentious attitude towards both visitors and colleagues.
To be successful, you also need to have:
- a university degree in art history or a minimum of one year of artistic education or a solid background in visual arts with knowledge of artistic techniques
- good knowledge of modern and contemporary art
- experience as an art educator showing art in an engaging way to a wide range of participants and different groups in museums or similar cultural activities
- good language skills in spoken Swedish and/or English
It is an advantage if you have:
- additional language skills
- pedagogical training
- experience in showing art to individuals with varying needs
Location
Moderna Museet is located on Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm.
Employment Type and Start Date
As an intermittent employee (hourly paid), you will be offered temporary employment upon request, and you have the right to accept or decline each offer. You are only employed during the times that you and the employer have agreed upon for you to perform work. Contracts are signed until the end of January 2027. Salary, collective agreements, etc., are regulated in a framework agreement between you and the employer during the contract period. Recruitment of intermittent employees is ongoing.
Since the work is partially aimed at children, Moderna Museet applies a background check before signing the framework agreement.
How to Apply
Please submit your CV and cover letter via our recruitment system by February 12, 2026. We would like you to clearly describe how your background matches the skills we are looking for in your application documents.
Label your application with the reference number MM2026/13.
