Recreation Leader for Strängnäs Municipality

Do you want to make a difference for young people in Strängnäs Municipality? As a recreation leader, you create safe meeting places, help young people have a meaningful leisure time, and find new contexts.

The Strängnäs recreation center unit is a dynamic and growing organization that works to create positive and developing recreational environments for young people throughout Strängnäs Municipality. We have three recreation centers located in Strängnäs, Mariefred, and Åkers Styckebruk, as well as two teams: the Outreach Team that works proactively, and Young in Strängnäs, which works based on activities. Our target group is young people aged 12-18, and the organization is LGBTQI-certified, which is part of our work to promote equality and inclusion.

We are now looking for a recreation leader who wants to work with young people, is creative, and curious about their ideas and suggestions. You want to help create opportunities for young people to participate and influence their leisure time. The position is a temporary contract running until June 13, 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The recreation centers are open environments where all young people should feel safe, welcome, and included. It is a meeting place where young people can create, socialize, receive support, meet trusted adults, and have fun with their friends.

Your tasks include planning the activities at the recreation center, both during regular opening hours and during school breaks. You will plan activities to appeal to various target groups and attract new visitors. Your mission is to be a trusted adult and create new contexts. You socialize, converse, and build relationships with the young people. You inspire and motivate them to take their own initiatives, develop their interests, and take responsibility for themselves and others.

You work proactively and stay updated on young people's interests, activities, and current trends. You will largely use our social media as a channel to inform about the activities and communicate with the young people. You work in a team with other recreation leaders. Your role also includes evaluating and documenting the activities.

The work takes place during daytime, evenings, and weekends according to a schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has/is:

  • post-secondary education in social work that we consider relevant.
  • current experience working with young people in open recreation center activities.
  • experience collaborating with other actors in youth activities.
  • knowledgeable about youth culture and social media.
  • good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form, as some documentation is included in the role.
  • experienced in using IT tools, such as the Office suite, Teams, etc., as support in the work.
  • has a B driver's license.

We consider it essential that you have a very good ability to connect with young people and build good relationships.

It is also an advantage if you have local knowledge and experience working proactively with young people.

Your personal qualities are important, and we place great emphasis on them! We are looking for someone who is a trustworthy and stable adult who is passionate about young people and their well-being. You are tolerant and have an empathetic view of people; we also see that you are flexible, structured, and have a good ability to collaborate both in a team and work independently. You are proactive and willing to try new things.

A criminal record extract for working with children and youth must be presented before employment.
