Support Assistant for Åker Daily Activities
Do you have an interest in music, dance, singing, and/or creativity? Do you want to contribute to enabling people with disabilities to develop and utilize their creative, artistic, and intellectual abilities? One of our employees has chosen to move on to new challenges in their career, and Daily Activities Unit 2 is therefore looking for someone who wants to help develop the work in the unit's largest operation together with us.
Åker's daily activities have an aesthetic focus where theater, singing, dance, music, and creativity are in the spotlight. During the workday, we have both joint activities and individual work, and we support each user to participate in our activities based on their unique conditions. Currently, twelve users have their place in Åker together with six employees, including two support pedagogues. We work in teams within the operation.
Furthermore, the unit consists of a total of five groups that are geographically spread throughout Strängnäs municipality. A common feature of the entire unit is the strong commitment and a significant focus on the users and their needs. Based on this, we work in a structured way to develop the operations and make adjustments considering the individual’s conditions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a support assistant at Åker, you contribute to making the days meaningful for the users. You have a strong commitment to the activities we offer and have no problem participating yourself when we, for example, dance, sing, play instruments, or perform theater. You follow the users' implementation plans, and together with your team colleagues, you ensure that the implementation plans are established on time and maintain high quality. Care work, sometimes with the help of lifts, will also be part of your job, as well as handling delegated health and medical tasks.
Collaborating with the individual, colleagues, representatives, relatives, residential staff, and other people in the person's network is something you see as essential for succeeding in your upcoming assignment. The role also includes close cooperation with the unit manager and other colleagues within daily activities and employment. In your daily work, you need to focus on low-arousal responses, be solution-oriented, and have a drive to engage and inspire users to participate in activities. You need to be comfortable and knowledgeable in clear pedagogical methods and using sign language support to perform the work in the best way.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- a relevant education for the role, such as a nursing assistant or preschool teacher, or another education that the employer considers equivalent.
- good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
- good experience working with IT/digital tools as support in the work since we document, collaborate, and plan in computer-based support systems.
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience of being engaged in some form of aesthetic activity either in your free time or in previous work.
- experience working with people who belong to LSS and who, for example, have intellectual disabilities or autism.
- experience with TAKK.
- experience with clear pedagogical methods and AAC.
- a B driver's license.
As a person, you are committed, responsible, and have a respectful approach. You see yourself as a team player but have no problem working independently. Cooperation is a prerequisite for success in your role. You have a strong drive and commitment when it comes to developing the direction of the operation and taking on new challenges. You easily encourage good performance and communicate well with colleagues and users. You are also flexible and see solutions rather than obstacles and problems. You are pedagogical and have a knack for motivating others. Working towards goals is a given for you, and you have the ability to keep your eyes on the goal even if the path there is sometimes winding. Personal suitability will be highly valued.
We apply ongoing selection, so you are warmly welcome to submit your application today!
