Crematorium Technician at Eskilstuna Parish

Are you data-savvy, meticulous, flexible, and confident in your values? Do you want to work in a socially important organization, close to both life and death, where you can make a difference? Then you might be the one we are looking for!

Eskilstuna Parish consists of four congregations, a funeral service, two preschools, and a broad support function with expertise in administration, HR/payroll, finance, IT, communication, booking, and property management. The parish's funeral service consists of two operational areas: Service and Cemetery. Together, the funeral service is responsible for, among other things, burials, grave site allocations, grave administration, cremations, cemetery maintenance, and grave care services. Here, we regularly meet people in grief, and with respect, we strive to make everything around as good as possible for everyone involved.

We warmly welcome your application by February 17!

Job Responsibilities

In our crematorium, you will be part of a team of three dedicated employees, one crematorium master and two crematorium technicians. You will also be part of a larger team that handles administration, grave viewings, and preparing chapels for funerals.

The main responsibilities of the crematorium technician position include:

  • Managing the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of our modern crematorium facility.
  • Administrative tasks such as receiving cremation orders and registering them in cremation journals.
  • Collaborating with external parties, primarily funeral homes and our neighboring parishes.
  • Assisting with other common tasks within the service team as needed, such as preparing chapels for funeral ceremonies, grave viewings, and burials.

The position is located at the crematorium in the funeral service's premises at S:t Eskil's Cemetery, 5 km outside central Eskilstuna.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Very good IT and data skills
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form
  • Good physical condition as the work can be physically demanding
  • A valid driver's license (B)

Previous experience in similar tasks, administration, technical work, or any work involving proximity to the end of life can be advantageous. Personal suitability for work in the unique environment of a crematorium is crucial. We also expect you to share the values of the Church of Sweden.

To succeed in this role, you need to have high integrity and the ability to handle both people and information in a respectful and ethical manner. Your values are well-founded and clear, and in critical situations at work, you are guided by them. In stressful or psychologically demanding situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. The tasks require high precision and safety. Therefore, we place great importance on you being structured, self-driven, and quality-conscious, meeting the standards required by the job. Since part of the work involves collaborating with colleagues and external contacts, we seek someone who works well with others and sees good service as a given.

What do we offer you? We offer individualized salary setting, a generous wellness allowance, the possibility of flexible working hours, and training that contributes to your professional development. Not least, we offer you competent and engaged colleagues.
