Do you want to help build the school library operations at Hovåsskolan?

At Hovåsskolan, there are about 580 students from preschool to grade 9.

There is also an after-school program with four departments, as well as a special needs school. Hovåsskolan is located near the sea and forest. We utilize nature both during lesson time and during after-school activities. Our vision is The Future is Our School, and our guiding words are Learn, Lift, Lead, Play.

Responsibilities

We want the school library to have a clear pedagogical function where you, in collaboration with educators, contribute to strengthening students' language skills and digital competence. We want to create a school library for everyone. The focus is on increasing students' goal achievement, well-being, and identity formation.

As a librarian, you will work to develop students' media and information literacy and digital competence, as well as strengthen students' reading engagement and reading skills. You will promote reading both in collaboration with the school's staff and independently. You will work at the direction of the management and in close cooperation with special education teachers and teachers. You will also be part of the school's operational development.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for the school library facilities and work to ensure that the library is a learning environment that is socially, pedagogically, and physically accessible. Your tasks include media planning and purchasing, circulation, and book management. You are expected to participate in professional development initiatives aimed at developing the school library operations.

Together with librarian colleagues in the primary school administration, you will be part of a network for collegial learning.

Qualifications

Requirements:

We are looking for someone with a university degree in library and information science, or a qualified teacher with at least 60 credits in library and information science. You have high digital competence relevant to the tasks and experience working with children's and youth literature.

Personal Competencies:

The role requires pedagogical skill, good knowledge of children's and youth literature, and a genuine interest in young people's learning and culture. You need to be communicative, relationship-building, and independent, with the ability to collaborate and take initiative.

We are looking for someone who has a good ability to work together with others and create good relationships with both students and colleagues. You create conditions for learning to take place and encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement. Furthermore, you also take initiative and responsibility for moving the work forward, whether you are working alone or with others. Finally, you contribute new ideas and perspectives and often see more than one possible solution in different situations.
