Municipal Archivist to Ale Municipality
We are looking for someone who wants to help shape the future of Ale. With us, you will deliver services and quality to the residents of Ale. Together, 2,500 employees create Ale, a municipality focused on the needs of its citizens. Become one of us!
About the Workplace
Ale Municipality has a centralized administrative unit where the responsibilities for registration, committee administration, archive operations, insurance matters, and election administration are gathered.
The administrative unit is part of the Democracy department, which, together with HR, Finance, and Citizen Services, constitutes the municipal management administration.
The administrative unit plays a central role in the organization and works closely with other departments and administrations. Here, we contribute to creating structure, quality, and legal security in the municipality's case and information management with good service and a professional approach as a foundation.
We are now looking for someone who wants to work as a municipal archivist and help develop Ale Municipality's information management in a time of digital transformation. With us, you will work alongside engaged and knowledgeable colleagues who, with high competence and a sense of responsibility, support both operations and elected officials.
Job Responsibilities
As a municipal archivist, you will have a coordinating and development-oriented responsibility for the municipality's archive organization. You will be responsible for organizing, registering, maintaining, and making the municipal archive's records accessible, both analog and digital documents. The assignment includes developing, implementing, and managing governing and supporting documents, as well as developing effective and appropriate working methods within the archive area.
You will handle inquiries and retrievals in the municipal archive and conduct disposal investigations and confidentiality assessments. An important part of the role is to support and educate colleagues in all administrations to ensure good archive care and legal information management. You will participate in the work with information management plans and contribute to the municipality's overall work with information management.
The assignment also includes exercising supervision in accordance with applicable legislation and ensuring that processes and working methods comply with legal requirements in an efficient and transparent manner.
The position involves working in a broad operation with a clear development focus on e-archives and modern information management from start to finish. You will work closely with the registration function and other colleagues in the office and have many points of contact within the organization.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with an academic degree with at least 40 credits/60 ECTS in archive or information science, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer. If you have training in OSL or GDPR, this is an advantage.
You have very good knowledge of regulations within the archive area and public administration, as well as good familiarity with standards and specifications for e-archiving and digital preservation. You have previous experience as an archivist, preferably in municipal operations, and it is advantageous if you have experience in digital archiving.
For the role, you must have an excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. You are self-driven and structured, with the ability to drive work forward with high quality and a good overall perspective. It is important that you have high integrity and understand the importance of considering authority boundaries, even in a centralized organization.
You enjoy the variation in the role, sometimes working focused and in-depth with archive searches and assessments, and sometimes being out in the operations to educate, provide support, or exercise supervision. You find it easy to collaborate, are service-oriented, and feel secure in the various roles that the archivist assignment entails.
You are accustomed to working with development and improvement work, are confident in your professional role, and have a strong desire to deliver quality service. The role requires you to be a clear and responsible communicator who demonstrates good judgment in your statements. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
