The award-winning Språkcentrum Mölndal works to ensure that all children and students in the city can develop their multilingual skills. We welcome newly arrived students, are responsible for mother tongue instruction and study guidance in the city, as well as modern languages at some schools. We also lead the development of Swedish as a second language and school libraries. Through our support to preschools and schools, we create conditions for the learning and development of newly arrived and multilingual students.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to help build the future school libraries in Mölndal? We are now starting a new organization with a team of five school librarians who will work for increased equity and quality within primary and adapted primary schools. This initiative is a strategic collaboration between the school administration and the culture and leisure administration to develop school libraries into pedagogical and cultural hubs.

As part of this team, where three librarians are employed by the school administration/Språkcentrum Mölndal, you will play a key role in shaping the assignment in an innovative and forward-looking way.

Collaboration and Networking

• Your work is based on needs raised in the city's school library network and a shared annual plan for the team.
• You act as a link between school libraries and public libraries and collaborate with local school library coordinators.
• The team works together to ensure librarian competence in all our schools.

You will be based at Språkcentrum Mölndal but will work flexibly across several schools.

A Pedagogical and Innovative Assignment

• Together with school staff, you will work according to the curriculum to strengthen students' language skills and digital competence.
• You will plan and implement initiatives within reading promotion and media and information literacy (MIL).
• You will be responsible for and manage the resources of the circulation library, including class sets and literature in various languages.
• You will work with both physical books and digital technology to make the best use of digital resources in the assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who wants to help build a new, forward-looking organization and who thrives with an innovative mindset.

We are looking for you who:

• Has a relevant academic degree for the assignment, preferably in library and information science.
• Has a strong pedagogical drive and a genuine interest in working with students.
• Has good experience with digital tools and sees opportunities with digital technology in the assignment.
• Is creative, proactive, and has excellent collaboration skills while being flexible and mobile.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience as a school librarian or children's and youth librarian.
• Experience in conducting training or speaking in front of groups both physically and digitally.
• Experience with overarching assignments and working in multiple schools.
• A valid driver's license, as travel within the municipality is included in the position.
