GöteborgsOperan is looking for a Project Manager
GöteborgsOperan is a modern cultural institution for opera, dance, musical and orchestral music and has engaged over seven million visitors since its opening in 1994. The company's vision is to be one of Northern Europe's leading opera houses. The operations are characterized by professionalism, commitment, and innovation. GöteborgsOperan AB is a wholly owned company within the Västra Götalandsregionen and is an important player in the region's development. GöteborgsOperan is a multicultural workplace that strives for a balanced gender distribution.
Do you want to be our new Project Manager?
GöteborgsOperan is one of Europe's foremost opera houses.
The foundation of the operations is opera, dance, musical, and concert performances that take place on our stages in-house, in the region, and on tours both nationally and internationally. As one of our six project managers, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and following up the entire production process – from idea to the final performance. You will be the hub between artistic visions and technical solutions, ensuring that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and with the highest quality. As a project manager with us, you will have responsibility for the work environment and personnel. You will report the projects to the CEO.
GöteborgsOperan is a complex organization; we have large collectives such as singers, orchestral musicians, and dancers, we have a stage with advanced technology, and most - from decor to marketing materials - is produced in-house by engaged employees in many different professional categories. The creative process, where art meets technology, can be challenging, with many different needs and desires to navigate and prioritize between. This also means a strong focus on the work environment. The role of project manager at GöteborgsOperan thus places high demands on leadership and communication and close collaboration with the company's various departments. Working together with guest artists and artistic teams, often international, is also part of the job and requires good interpersonal skills and cultural understanding. The international environment requires good language skills in English and preferably more languages. Each project manager is responsible for several projects running in parallel, in different phases.
In the project department, besides project managers, there is a project administrator, a project coordinator, and a planning coordinator. The project department is led by the Vice CEO/CFO.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant post-secondary/university degree
- At least 5 years of documented experience in a leadership role as a manager, project manager, or producer in larger projects/companies with high complexity
- Good knowledge of work environment and experience in risk management
- Good language skills in Swedish and English as well as preferably another language
- Relevant work experience in performing arts, culture, media, film, events, and related industries is an advantage.
- Experience working in international contexts is an advantage.
As a person, you are driven, act independently, and are good at balancing and reconciling different interests. You can manage several different tasks simultaneously. You see the whole picture while working in a structured and solution-oriented manner, even in pressured situations. You build trust and have a good ability to collaborate and are skilled at communicating with different people. You have an interest in and are driven by working with overall improvements and development of processes. You care about a good work environment. In your daily work, several systems for planning, budgeting, etc., are used, which requires you to have good computer skills and also a curiosity for new systems and working methods as we are in an intensive development phase of several systems.
It is important that you have an interest and commitment to performing arts in general and the art forms that GöteborgsOperan represents in particular.
The position is mostly daytime-based, but also includes some evenings and weekends, as well as travel for international tours.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
The position is a permanent employment with a start date of 2026-08-15 or by agreement. We apply a 6-month probationary period. Please state your salary expectations in your application.
GöteborgsOperan strives for a balanced gender distribution and values the qualities that diversity brings to our operations.
