About the Role and Team
As a business controller, you will be responsible for financial controlling and analysis of production results in a sawmill environment. You will act as a key business partner to the sawmill management, ensuring transparency regarding costs, margins, yields, and operational efficiency while supporting strategic and operational decision-making in a Swedish industrial setting.
Your main responsibilities:
Financial Controlling
Prepare monthly management reports, forecasts, and budgets
Analyze cost structures, margins, and deviations from budget and forecast
Monitor fixed and variable production costs (raw materials, logistics, energy, labor, maintenance, etc.)
Support monthly and annual closing in collaboration with the accounting function
Ensure compliance with group controlling standards and Swedish reporting requirements
Production & Operational Controlling
Analyze production volumes, yields, recovery rates, and efficiency indicators
Monitor key sawmill KPIs such as production yield, consumption rates, downtime, and unit costs
Perform variance analyses between planned and actual production results
Support improvement initiatives by providing data-driven insights
Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, and Sales
Cost & Inventory Controlling
Monitor inventory levels and valuation of timber, work-in-progress, and finished goods
Analyze inventory turnover, write-downs, and inventory changes
Support product costing and margin analyses by product group and customer segment
Operational Support
Act as a financial sparring partner to the sawmill management and department heads
Provide ad hoc analyses and decision support for operational and investment-related decisions
Support CAPEX evaluations, post-calculations, and profitability analyses
Process Improvement & Systems
Contribute to the development and improvement of controlling tools, reports, and KPIs
Support ERP systems and production reporting systems
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
University degree in finance, controlling, business administration, industrial economics, or similar
3–7 years of experience in controlling or finance, preferably from an industrial or manufacturing environment
Experience in production or operational controlling is highly desirable
Good understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and margin analysis
Basic knowledge of Swedish accounting principles
Experience with ERP systems; Visma, SAP, or similar is a plus
Strong Excel skills; experience with BI tools is a plus
Fluent in Swedish and English; German is a plus
