Umeå University conducts teaching at all levels and offers courses in mechanical engineering, electronics/computer engineering, energy technology, construction engineering, and media technology. We are now looking for an assistant in electronics and computer engineering/medical technology. The position is 15% of a full-time position for 12 months, starting March 1 or by agreement. The position must be carried out alongside studies, and the workload may vary during the semester. The application deadline is February 16, 2026.

Job Responsibilities

The work as an assistant primarily consists of supervising laboratory sessions and participating in the assessment of students' laboratory reports. The responsibilities also include other tasks beyond teaching, such as developing existing laboratory sessions and quality work related to course and program evaluation. The following points may be relevant in the quality work:

  • contribute to laboratory sessions and lab supervision
  • compile course evaluations between different years
  • analyze and assess various courses based on collected data
  • discuss and consult with students in the program regarding deficiencies and good examples
  • provide suggestions for changes
  • evaluate and document all relevant tasks, and communicate this to relevant stakeholders
  • help, support, and inform the program's students regarding educational matters
  • work within program management on issues that increase the program's collaboration and marketing internally and externally

Additionally, the role includes being the contact assistant for our educational programs and participating in activities aimed at primary and secondary schools (e.g., participating in Umeå University's open house day).

Eligibility

Eligible for employment as an assistant is a student who is admitted to education at the undergraduate or advanced level at a university or college.

Qualifications

Applicants for the assistant position should:

  • be an active student in year 2 of the bachelor's program in electronics and computer engineering/medical technology at Umeå University
  • have completed at least 90 ECTS credits
  • understand and be interested in explaining electronics and signal processing
  • have good planning skills and be able to complete tasks on time

Furthermore, you should have good social skills and be interested in teaching and educational issues. The selection among applicants will be based on the applicant's qualifications, suitability, and experience of similar tasks.
