The Police Region Mitt is responsible for police operations in Uppsala, Västmanland, and Gävleborg counties. Each county constitutes a police area. The police region is organizationally composed of the three police areas, three regional units, and a secretariat. The main location for Police Region Mitt is Uppsala, and the region currently has about 2,700 employees.

The Uppsala Police Area is organized into three local police areas: Uppsala/Knivsta, Enköping/Håbo, and Norduppland, an investigation section, and a secretariat. Currently, about 662 employees work in the police area.

The Uppsala/Knivsta local police area encompasses two municipalities: Uppsala and Knivsta, with approximately 248,000 and 21,500 inhabitants, respectively. Within the local police area, there are intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, dog units, and support and service groups.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a deputy chief in the Uppsala/Knivsta local police area, you will, together with the local police area chief, have personnel responsibility for the local police area's 23 group leaders. You will lead and develop the operations together with group leaders and employees. You are clear and accessible and have trust in group leaders and employees. You create conditions for active employee participation where we dare to try new methods. You are confident in yourself and have the ability to take your own initiatives where necessary. You report directly to the chief of the local police area and are part of the management team for the local police area. You will have the support of two support/service groups and a management support team.

You will be involved in and responsible for tasks that require close collaboration with employee and safety organizations. The work requires good communication skills, and you have the ability to maintain a holistic focus and take responsibility for the entire police area when leading operations in everyday life. You can also manage and balance strategic and operational business issues.

Your role includes collaboration with two municipalities as well as other authorities, companies, and organizations. You are expected to have the ability to build good relationships, both internally and externally, and to drive collaboration effectively where the roles and responsibilities of the police and others are clarified.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • at least 18 months of experience in driving and leading together with other managers, direct leadership with personnel and work environment responsibility.
  • a couple of years of experience in working goal-oriented and results-oriented with good results for both the entire operational assignment and your own area of responsibility.
  • experience in successfully leading and driving change and development work.
  • been part of a management team or equivalent management forum.
  • experience in crime prevention, investigation, and intervention activities.
  • experience in leading crime fighting in the regular organization (LIO).
  • police degree.

We consider it an advantage if you also have:

  • at least one year of experience in driving and leading through other managers, indirect leadership with personnel and work environment responsibility.
  • experience in participating in/driving collaboration between community actors outside the police organization.
  • management and leadership training at an indirect and/or strategic level.
  • experience in leadership outside the local police area.

  • Permanent employment with an appointment for the position of four years with the possibility of extension.
