Support Educator for Värmdö Daily Activities

Värmdö is the meeting place of the archipelago with a unique combination of nature's serene beauty and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not one but many: schools, real estate, social services, harbors, healthcare, libraries, care, and many more. We strive to ensure that all Värmdö residents can live a rich and free life. We want to be the ones who enable the dream of a vibrant and secure environment for homes, families, and businesses.

To succeed fully, we must have many and extensive competencies and work together for a common and trusting work culture, built on brave, responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the residents.

Our Operations

My name is Marit, and I am the unit manager at Värmdö Daily Activities. We are now looking for support educators who want to help develop our daily activities. Is that you?

Värmdö Daily Activities offers a variety of occupations, ranging from outdoor groups to traditional daily activities. We shape the content based on the participants' interests and wishes, and we are currently in a phase where we will focus on developing pedagogical work, AAC, and digitalization.

Your Mission

As a support educator, you will become a central part of the daily work in the operations. The role includes, among other things:

  • Working closely with participants
  • Providing support and services based on the participants' individual needs, wishes, and conditions.
  • Supporting participants to create an active and meaningful daily occupation.
  • Working with clarifying pedagogy and individualized strategies to strengthen participants' independence.

Pedagogical Development Work

  • Driving and developing the pedagogical work in close consultation with the unit manager, coordinators, and other colleagues.
  • Conducting assessments, planning, and following up on pedagogical efforts.
  • Implementing and ensuring the quality of methods related to AAC, sign language, adapted MI, and other evidence-based methods.

Teamwork & Responsibility

  • Working closely with your colleagues in a collaborative team where communication and safety are at the center.
  • Documenting according to applicable guidelines in the operational system and contributing to structured follow-up. Supporting colleagues in the work with implementation plans and ongoing social journals.
  • Performing certain delegated health and medical tasks in accordance with the operations' routines.

As the needs vary among participants, no day is the same – making the work both developing, stimulating, and meaningful.

Your Experience

I want you to have relevant education as a YH support educator or 60 credits in pedagogy. You are a secure, low-arousal, and pedagogically driven team player with strong organizational and documentation skills. You will have a lot of contact with the participants' networks, so you must master the Swedish language very well in both speech and writing. You have knowledge and experience of AAC/TAK and digital systems – such as social documentation, quality management systems, and digital planning tools. With curiosity and responsibility, you drive development and strengthen participants' independence. You should have experience working as a support educator in efforts according to LSS (special accommodations, daily activities, short-term care), AAC, Autism, NPF, clarifying pedagogy, and low-arousal approaches.

Your Personal Qualities

  • Integrity
  • Relationship-building
  • Empathetic ability
  • Specialist knowledge

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The position is full-time, and a background check will be conducted for this position, which is a prerequisite for employment. Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis, so apply today.

Värmdö Municipality offers wellness grants, SL cards against net salary deductions, and vacation exchange for extra days off. We also actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good working environment and apply smoke-free working hours.

We value the qualities that diversity brings to the organization and therefore welcome applicants with different backgrounds, life experiences, and gender identities for the position.
