Your Responsibilities

Your starting point as a preschool teacher is to have the overall pedagogical responsibility together with other preschool teachers at the preschool. You are expected to lead and distribute the pedagogical work in the team while contributing to creating collegial learning. The team will work together to plan, teach, document, and evaluate the content of the activities based on the preschool's curriculum and other governing documents.

As a preschool teacher, you have planning time every week with other preschool teachers, and in addition, you and your team have reflection time together every week. Every other week we have staff meetings where you, together with your colleagues, have the opportunity for professional development through collegial learning, participate in workplace environment work, and address other current issues. If you are new to the role, you will receive an introduction and a mentor.

Your Workplace

Skäggetorp preschools consist of two areas (Skäggetorp 1 and 2). We have 6 preschools in the area, and the area has approximately 520 enrolled children. It is a multicultural area where we work from an intercultural perspective. The preschools particularly focus on language development, and our priority goal is for each child to increase their ability to converse in Swedish. At the end of last term, we concluded a three-year collaboration with the Swedish National Agency for Education and Stockholm University, “Collaboration for the Best School.”

One of our identified areas for development has led us to implement “Word Treasure Collector” as a method in our language development approach in the autumn of 2025. The purpose of this work is to increase and develop children's vocabulary and language. In 2026, we will collaborate with a speech therapist who, together with the management team in the area, will contribute to developing and supporting the area's employees in language development work with a particular focus on the language development of the youngest children.

Our preschools work in collaboration. We have close cooperation with the area's special educators and lead preschool teachers. We also maintain a close collaboration and ongoing dialogue with the Social Services in Skäggetorp.

As an employed preschool teacher in Skäggetorp preschools, you have the benefit and opportunity to use 10% of your working time for studies that the employer sees as relevant for work in preschool and in the role of preschool teacher. This gives you the opportunity for professional development alongside your work. Skäggetorp preschools also have an extra study day per year aimed at enabling and focusing on the identified areas for development in the area.

Who We Are Looking For

Primarily, we are looking for someone with a preschool teacher license. Secondly, we are looking for someone with a degree from a preschool teacher education program. Alternatively, you may be at the end of your education to become a preschool teacher.

It is a requirement that you have experience working with children in a curriculum-driven preschool through practice, employment, or volunteering. It is an advantage if you have worked for at least a year in a curriculum-driven preschool where you have worked with planning and teaching based on the curriculum.

You have good communication skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary for you to organize and carry out the work so that the child receives support in their language and communication development according to the curriculum (Lpfö18). You are responsible for ensuring that each child can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

In your role as a preschool teacher, you create good relationships and collaborate well with children, colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in the community that are part of your professional role. You have a good understanding of people's differences and relate to them in a responsive manner in teaching and the everyday life of the preschool. You lead the work with both children and colleagues through motivation, engagement, and participation. The role also means that you, together with your colleagues, will work with the applicable goals and quality standards for the preschool.
