Cardiology/HIA
The heart department C4 belongs to the internal medicine area, which also includes the medical department, stroke department, and geriatrics department.
C4 has two medical teams and three nursing teams. There are 15 care places, all with individual care spaces. Two of these 15 places are HIA rooms. There is heart monitoring available for all patient rooms, arrhythmia or ischemia monitoring.
The most common diagnoses are acute coronary syndrome (ACS), heart rhythm disturbances, heart failure, postoperative care after CABG and pacemaker implantations, as well as pulmonary embolism. Patients are admitted for investigation in case of ACS, and we have a good collaboration with Nya Karolinska in Solna. Patients are flown to Stockholm, usually by helicopter, sometimes by Swedish Ambulance Air. This involves logistics with the hospital's planning unit and heart/vessel at NKS. If patients undergo PCI or CABG, they return to our department for aftercare before discharge. It is unique to follow the patient's care journey in this way, and it is both exciting and educational.
The condition of heart patients can change rapidly, and it is important to act accordingly. We work with safe routines and have good collaboration with the emergency department and ICU. Additionally, we maintain close contact with care coordinators, PEV, the heart clinic, and the AK clinic.
Your Responsibilities
We practice pair care in each care team and have a resource in the form of a nurse coordinator during weekdays. Every morning, we have a brief meeting on the department including the occupational therapist and physiotherapist. The rounds start at 9:30 AM. In addition, the nurse's usual responsibilities on the cardiology department/HIA are included.
We offer professional development in the form of a three-step training program in cardiac care. The three steps consist of two to three days of training in Stockholm at different hospitals. The possibility of an educational position for specialist training in cardiac care can be discussed during employment.
Who Are You?
You who are applying are a licensed nurse. We consider it an advantage if you have experience or education in cardiology or emergency care.
If you have not worked in cardiology before but are curious and eager to learn, you are also welcome!
You enjoy working in a team and collaborating across the entire department when the situation requires it. You are attentive and independent. There are often fluctuations in pace around a heart patient, which is why flexibility and prioritization are part of our daily routine. You have a positive attitude towards departmental work as we rely on each other to provide professional cardiac care to the residents of Gotland. You have a desire to develop and also share your experiences.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Before a hiring decision is made, a background check is conducted through an extract from the criminal record.
An offer is available for a permanent position or a parental leave substitute for at least one year.
