Specialist Physician in Microbiology

Infection and Lung Medicine
Clinical microbiology is part of the Laboratory Medical Center Gotland, which also includes chemistry lab, transfusion medicine, water lab, and physics lab.
At the microbiology lab, a basic range of culture-based microbiological diagnostics is performed, along with a few, but gradually increasing, complementary PCR analyses. The laboratory is relatively small with eight BMA positions, two of which share a section leader role. Through partnership agreements, support is available from microbiological specialist physicians at Karolinska Hospital.
Your Responsibilities
The assignment is for 50-100% depending on agreement and competencies and is primarily intended for twelve months. In the case of double specialization, work at the infection clinic may be included as part of the assignment. Continuation after twelve months can be discussed.
Who Are You?
We are looking for you as a specialist physician in microbiology with good knowledge of current analytical methods and an interest in ongoing development and future needs regarding diagnostics and methods. We would also like you to be an infectious disease physician or have a strong interest in collaboration with the infection clinic in your daily work.
You should be interested in working in a team closely with BMA, which has a broader mandate than on the mainland, and infectious disease physicians for mapping current needs, competencies, and methods in Gotland.
An interest in working strategically is central to the assignment, where the direction for the future microbiological laboratory should be optimally shaped based on needs and resources. The review should primarily be conducted from medical and preparedness perspectives but also based on Gotland's specific conditions.
Before a hiring decision is made, a background check is conducted through an extract from the criminal record.
